they offered to make a vegan sandwich! it was absolutely bomb. perfectly toasted bread, arugula, cranberries, onions, almonds, balsamic, i forget what else.. but it was GOOD. super friendly and quick service. of course, i love the story behind the place and what they stand for, too.
my only qualm is that they still have a covid-style walk up window, which i wouldn't mind if it were for health concerns, but they asked if i wanted to sit inside, so i don't get the point... it seems unnecessarily inconvenient & it also meant i couldn't go in & put my own milk & sugar in my coffee (it was still tasty, but i would have preferred more milk, my tummy gets upset by coffee easily lol)
Fresh brewed coffee, and a fantastic breakfast sandwich! Simple place with minimal seating in front, but fantastic food in the back. If the breakfast sandwich and coffee don't buckle your knees , I'm afraid to venture at what would.
Hi honestly this was amazing. Pulled pork sandwich: little dry, thought it was going to be covered in Sweet BBQ Sauce, but I like this plain option. Also do a hot bbq version for people who like spice. I also had the iced chai latte, wish it was sweetened with sweetener. A little watery for me. I also had a vanilla and a chocolate alfajores. Caramel surprise with one of them. The value of everything I overall love. Will definitely be coming back.
Best pulled pork sandwich I’ve had in a while. Staff is super cool and friendly. Easy pay options and super quick turnaround.
Just a great place to grab lunch. Great food, friendly ownership, and one more time.... great food.
One of the last places downtown where you can still grab a well made, tasty, sandwich for less than $10.
My go to is the soppressata sandwich with side capresse salad. Ends up being a very filling lunch, for less than $15.
If you are looking for a sandwich for lunch downtown, I couldn't recommend this café more.
Catering Review: if you're looking for a caterer, you don't need to look anywhere else because Penny and the Cafe Gabriela team will hook you up with whatever you need, and it will be amazing! The catering menu doesn't include any vegan or gluten-free items, but don't let that stop you because they can go off menu and make what you need. We ordered 120 box lunches and included each of the four sandwiches on the menu. For the vegan attendees, Penny made a vegan sandwich that I (controversial yet brave) might've enjoyed more than the pulled pork adobo sandwich! It was a tomato and arugula sandwich that was sweet (from the dried cranberries and balsamic vinegar) and crunchy (from the almond slivers) and really satisfying!
Working with the cafe on the order was really easy because they were responsive to emails and very flexible with ordering options. Delivery was on time, and everyone loved the boxed lunches! We can't thank Penny and their team enough for providing such an incredible feast for our event and we will absolutely work with them again the next chance we get!
One of my all time favorite breakfast and lunch places in Oakland. Spectacular food — I highly recommend the pulled pork adobo sandwich, or the egg sandwich — and great coffee from kind people. A real fixture of Oakland’s culinary community and well worth a visit. Or two. Or three. :)
Delicious and super affordable. Got the fried egg sandwich (a perfectly runny egg) with an add-on salad and it all cost me $13. Great option for a filling lunch in DT.
Love to support small business inspired by family and culture and led by strong women! Highly recommend the latiya latte and champorado mocha (as well as their chicken empanada) ð we had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with co-owner Ari and l
Delicious buttermilk biscuit egg sandwich with avocado, caramelized onions with a side of roasted rosemary red potatoes coupled with a large lavender latte! At 10:30 a.m. on a Tuesday, this place was busy, but not overly busy. I was able to easily or
This is not the place to come with a laptop or friends and chill. The table layout should make that obvious before you enter.
It is a place to taste coffee.
A good thing to get is the Espresso Flight (pictured): for $11, it's a great taste journey.
Great freshly made sandwiches, lattes, and coffee in a hip and artsy cafe. Apparently they became mildly Reddit famous, and I live up the street and was excited to finally visit one morning. I had the cheddar bacon bagel, and a chai, which was excell
I love their lox bagel. It's reliably good every time. And, you see that little condiment thimble? That's really tasty hot sauce I think they make themselves.
Points off on atmosphere because the second, big room inside has a really boring and bland
Best cafe around! Coffee is great. The food is hella goodâ¦I got the bacon panini sandwich it was so delicious. My daughter is a picky eater but she loved her breakfast croissant with ham/cheese and the mango smoothie was so bomb!! Highly recommende
Great food, and awesome both for individual purchase and group take out! We have an on-site catering firm where I work, but for lunch meetings, I'll always swing by here and get sandwiches for our groups (5-20 people). I'm TERRIBLE at remembering t
Cozy, unpretentious yoga studio for people of all ages and abilities. I've only gone to this location one time so far but the instructor was great. Lots of natural light and a nice waiting area with clean restrooms and water available. Highly recomme
We went at 8pm and ordered a 6-piece buffalo wing and a pepperoni pizza. There was one man who was working the front and kitchen. He was extremely kind and friendly, and the food was ready quickly. We wish we had ordered more than 6 wings, as they we
