We lived for 25 years in New Mexico and Texas and we long for good Mexican food in the East. Cacique isn't too bad. I highly recommend the chicken tortilla soup. It's A+. The rellenos, tacos, and enchiladas are decent.
Delicious food and good price. Our waitress was Antonia and she was amazing.
Stopped in last week for the first time to grab lunch. Sergio at the bar is obviously proud of the restaurant and the food. I quickly gave up on what I came in for and was blown away by his recommendation! The flavors are fresh and the beef was well seasoned and fall apart tender. Prices were very reasonable, unless you forget to feed the meter out front. Ahem.
Will be back soon, with quarters.
My wife and I went here for dinner tonight. If you're thinking about eating here just step inside and sniff. You'll be immediately greeted with the smell of steak, shrimp, and lime..... it's divine. My only complaint is that or steak and ground beef entries were slightly overcooked, but the flavors were amazing. The sides were fresh, and the chips and house made salsa were tasty. The staff, though busy, were friendly and helpful. The drinks were well made and my double came with the extra shot on the side (a nice touch). If you're in Frederick and craving Mexican or Spanish food give thus place a shot!
Nothing but positive things to say! I was skeptical as I am not a fan of Mexican food in America. However, this place is Mexican and Spanish cuisine. The vibes are nice, and they have limited outdoor sitting. I got a mango daiquiri with whipped cream, which was good. For appetizers, we got the Gambas and Tortilla chips with Guac. The Gambas was not what i thought it was, and the sauce it came in was a little bit too salty for my taste buds. I lived in Cameroon and what we call Gambas are huge prawns, so i was taken aback when i saw regular shrimp. Talk about a difference of what my expectations were and my reality 😅. No fault of the restaurant! For dinner, I ordered the Paella Valenciana, which was okay, and my friend got the salmon with rice, veggies, and peppercorn sauce (needs to be bottled up and sold separately). Overall, it was a good time on a Saturday evening. I enjoyed myself, and surprisingly, the food was better than I expected. But the service was what i was impressed most by was wonderful!
We have visited this restaurant multiple times and have noticed lately that the service has gone downhill. Yesterday was the worst. The server took about 10 minutes to notice us and then it took several more minutes to get our drinks. What got me really upset was that after paying almost 30 dollars for a paella Valenciana, by the way, I can make it home for 1/3 of the price. It tasted like it had been cooked several hours ago and then put in the oven to reheat it. It was dry, at the most warm and crusty. It was a real disappointment. BTW we never got a refill on our soda drinks. It was severely understaffed and the food was mediocre.
The food was very good but the bar was incapable of mixing a drink. Best to order a drink that only requires a bottle opened and poured. The environment, recently refurbished, looked great. Unfortunately the lack of sound-absorbing materials in the restaurant space made table conversations impossible. The noise level was off the scale.
We met the owner, José, who was kind and personable. Our server was amazing and set the tone for our visit. We had the Millionaire margaritas and the Gold Margaritas. They were delicious. The asparagus soup was unique and flavorful. My wife had the tortilla soup... she loved it. We shared the combination Salgado, which was an intricate dish full of flavors. The seafood and meat were cooked to perfection. The sauce was light and added another layer of flavors. Overall, this place has a lot to offer, from the atmosphere to the service, the drinks and the food. Amazing. You have to give it a shot!

We loved Arepa Queen since they were in a food truck. The restaurant is even better. The arepa and empanada are so beautifully crunchy yet soft. Fillings are generous and tasty. Highly recommend popping in.
