Classic Motel! I've stayed here twice :) Rooms are cute, comfy and clean, with little kitchenette. Good hot water pressure and wifi. Price is reasonable and location is perfect in Durango, close to everything you need within minutes of restraunts, laundry center, stores etc. And downtown is less than 5 min drive away. Maureen the owner is wonderful 😊
The place was clean, the beds were comfortable, we used the microwave, and we were able to make coffee in the morning. We had everything we needed. Some things needed a little jiggling and there weren't many luxuries. The decor was from another era but in keeping with the historical character you might expect. This was everything we had hoped to find in one of the lower priced properties in Durango. Most rooms seemed to be empty, and that's a shame if people have been scared away by reviews pointing out small flaws. As long as the price is right, you are likely to enjoy your stay.
old, moderately maintained, pet friendly motel with dated, mis matched charm. WAY over priced at $140/night for king room and then add $20 per dog cleaning fee when there was still hair from the last human guests in the shower. Never again.
This was simply one of the worst and I mean worst experiences I have ever had. My wife and I drove from Colorado Springs to Durango for one night. I booked at The Caboose because it looked nice and kinda of classic Americana. DON'T DO IT. I never even made it through the door. I got there and my wife and I along with 2 other groups were unable to get in.| There was a number on the door that said, "If this door is locked call this number -970-946-0251." So, I called. They said they'd be right there "but if you want to go somewhere else, go ahead."45 minutes later we go back. Guess who's not there, dude on the phone who said he'd be right there. So, I call back. "I'll be there in 5 minutes". About 10 minutes later, a woman opens the door and then she got in my face when I expressed my frustration with their service. She said the same thing he did, "Well, then you should just go ahead and go somewhere else." | So, guess what, I did. I went across the street to The Quality Inn. Read that glowing review.| In summary, I have never been treated by a hotelier that way ever. Zero attempt to make ammends of any kind. Just go away. So, I did and you should too. Not a good represtation of Durango at all. Stay away. Stay at t|The Quality.
Stayed here 3/7/2024 and really cannot see the reason for so many bad reviews. Staff was very friendly and our room was clean and above all clear of any bugs. For those considering a stay here, LOOK at the price, READ the description, ASK questions. Yes the place is dated, yes it's right next on the Main street of a little town, yes some things need some finagling to work the way you want like the door being pushed hard to close properly and the faucet is super hot after a 3 mm left, the ONLY thing that didn't work was the bathroom fan BUT that's part of the deal when you get an older place for a great price. Ignore the comments where people are seemingly expecting the Ritz Carlton for 70$ a night. We had a good time and a good experience. Thanks Caboose and Kulovitz family!
Positive: Loved the location and the price. Great staff. Negative: Housekeeping took our bath towels without leaving a replacement. nothing major. Easily resolved the issue. Negative: ""
Overall not too bad for the price. The rooms are a little shabby, and we find an old dried banana peel in the drawers of the TV stand. It was also really dusty. The mattresses were horridly uncomfortable. Most of the channels on TV aren't included in their cable package. WiFi kept going in and out. But the place is cheap for a reason. The mini fridge and microwave worked fine. The heater was very hot and the AC very cold so that was nice. They have a rustic mom and pop charm in the office and a little gazebo and play area set up for guests which is pretty nice. They're pet friendly but you can't leave your dog in the room unattended and you have to pay $10 extra a night. The staff wasn't super friendly or warm but not rude either. No continental breakfast which is fine, I'm just noting that for anyone interested. It was very quiet despite being what appeared to be fully booked. They are pretty close to everything though downtown is a pretty far walk and driving would be better.
This is the cutest motel! Made me feel like I was in a Wes Anderson movie! I stayed here when first moving to Durango and it was literally perfect for me! The owners are awesome, staff were great. The room was very clean with lovely decor, and I never ran out of hot water. Besides that, the bed was so comfortable. I felt at home.
