BYU-Idaho Hart Fitness Center - Featured Reviews (304)
This is a fantastic gym for BYU-I students and faculty. I love the equipment, the vibe, and size of the gym. Student employees are super laid back and nice too! The hours can be tricky- they are open from 5 am to 11pm and they change for summer semester- but if you're flexible then it'll workout (pun intended 😉)
Well, it’s a fine gym in terms of equipment, Their hours are simply unreliable. They are terrible at posting an accurate schedule. So many times, I’ve shown up and it’s been closed for some random reason that wasn’t posted anywhere. Very disrespectful of peoples time. One star.
Someone, please fix the dress code!!!*
Despite the website and Google Maps stating that the gym is open at 5am, it was closed on Friday... Just wanted to work out before going to work (this is during the summer, so be aware of that). A major inconvenience is that there is no accurate information about the actual hours of the gym when special events or other things are occurring.
*On another note, their "dress code policy" makes no sense and seems discriminatory. You are allowed to wear pajama pants and any type and color of joggers but you can't wear a pair of shorts (even if they are more appropriate than the BYU-I, same color, and longer length) unless they are the official gym shorts (which are like $30 a pair individually). Hoodies/long sleeves are also allowed with no proof of any official BYU-I wear underneath it. So those that try to comply with rules the best they can and like wearing shorts and a t-shirt have no choice but to buy multiple pairs of gym clothing (which could run you $100 or more otherwise they are turned away.
While others that use loopholes in the rules to wear what they want without wearing appropriate clothing can be debatably more inappropriate than the approved clothing but don't even get acknowledged.
The college can do what it'll like, but it doesn't seem to be a conducive environment for appropriate workout clothing.
If I wasn't already going to college and paying them thousands of dollars, I would NOT work out here due to these rules.
The gym itself isn’t bad, but the pool is frequently closed without any notice and you can only go for open swim at 5am…so it sucks when you find out that the pool is closed once you get there. Also, they never tell you WHY the pool is closed…but I don’t know if I want to know tbh.
They have a lot of great equipment here that you can use for exercising in many ways. I also love playing pickle ball, basketball, and going to yoga classes, as well as swimming here!
I’m grateful for a free gym and a university that offers tuition at a very low rate. That being said the dress code at the gym is obviously in place for a reason. I get it and I follow it. My understanding is that it ensures modesty while working out. But when me or my husband are asked to leave because we don’t have the BYUI logo on our blue shorts it just feels a little too nitpicking. We have come in perfectly modest clothes and ones very identical to the required uniform… just no logo on the shorts. I just don’t understand who or what I’m hurting by not wearing the BYUI approved shorts. Oh, but I forgot if I wear black sweat pants it’s fine if it doesn’t have to have the logo. I’m just hoping by this review that those who make the rules and those students who run everything on campus will think more about the spirit of law rather than just the letter of the law. Because right now it doesn’t feel like it’s about being modest it feels more like I’m just trying to be controlled.
*For reference these are the shorts compared to the BYUI required ones.
Great gym! Free (for current students), and has a lot of equipment. Big enough to where you can work out comfortably with space. There's a variety of equipment for most (if not all) activities. There are engaging events and help if you need it. You do need workout clothes though, I personally have a shirt from the BYUI store, and black workout pants from Walmart, make sure to check the dress-code before heading over :)
Large, tons of machines, free weights, cardio area, it has it all. Extra equipment can be borrowed for free (lifting straps, etc).

This was by far THE BEST BBQ I've had in Idaho! Thick cut brisket mixed with delicious homemade sauces! Flavor was perfection. The owner Aaron takes pride in his work and it shows in the product!! Definitely became my favorite after one bite!
We had the BEST time as a family driving through the reserve. Itâs conveniently located, easy to find and access. The variety of foxes was astounding, some being the last of their kind globally. The wolves and bears were so close to our car but wer

The Emfield family is the best family to learn Jiu-jitsu from! They are kind and know what they are doing. If you are a beginner, you could not ask for a better team to teach you.

A fun Island-themed drink+desert shop. It's assorted soda, Italian ice, and custard. Cookies and cream custard is good stuff! Service was fast, and the indoor lawn chairs make a great spot to sit and talk with friends.
