Byblos | Old Metairie - Mediterranean restaurant in Metairie - 1501 Metairie Rd, USA

I wanted to try this Byblos location because the menu is more extensive than the location closest to me. Upon entering, we were told to sit wherever we’d like (which was nice). Service pretty good but the overall environment was dull. Also, the dishes looked dingy and my veggies were in a cracked bowl. We started with the stuff grapes leaves and they were pretty good! I had the redfish entree (bland). The veggies were good, but I didn’t feel comfortable eating anything that was placed on the cracked portion of the dish. The other guest had a beef gyro and the meat could have used more seasoning. The entire experience was average at best.

Pure honey of a place nestled into the heart of old Metairie! Our neighbor suggested the burgers, she likes the quality of the beef. It is true the ingredients are quality selections and the recipes quite delicious. Each dish is well thought out and the locals all crave the friendly service. One of the few old school restaurants that doesn’t show its age and has stayed in the hearts of the locals for good reason.

I ordered a lamb kebab which, disappointingly, was served cold (as if it had been cooked an hour ago) and lacked flavor. The seating arrangement was also quite inconvenient. It was apparent that the restaurant aimed to fit as many tables as possible, resulting in a cramped space. My chair was just inches away from the person seated behind me, which made for an uncomfortable dining experience.

Wasn’t sure what to expect going in but I was thoroughly impressed with my experience here. Food was great (I went for the Gulf fish), drink was made very well, good variety and selection of both. Ambiance is nice. Price is mid ranged. Overall, would certainly return.

Fantastic service, great decor/ambiance. They were open for a very late lunch on Sunday, Jan 1, saving my new years day! The Caesar salad was perfect and the gyros was delicious.

5-stars for friendly excellent service, cleanliness and atmosphere. 3.5-stars for food when compared to my home town (HTWN) favorite Med restaurant (Kasra). Lamb kebab was above average. Hummus and Nan bread was average.

Why is my rating so bad? Usually their Food is very good, and the restaurant and servers in restaurant are excellent. Never again will I order via Uber eats. Vastly overpriced and the “meal” Portions were a joke. Shockingly small. No utensils as requests. Not even one napkin. One very small piece of spinakopita. Because you tip in advance you don’t know how the food or service will be! I Gave terrific 21% tip. Now discovered the actual bill in restaurant is $25.93 with great portions, utensils, great servers. Greek salad uninspired and swimming in dressing. Moussaka tasted awful this time. The hummus was good but two half pieces of pita were a joke. Lovely setting. The Uber bill $60.00!!! Uber eats is a real rip off. Never again
