*NOTE* HURRICANE IDALIA CLEANUP CONTINUES AS OF SEPT. 1, 2023. Horseshoe Beach was devastated by a 10 foot storm surge and 125 mph winds which tore through the island village. Call Horseshoe Beach Town Hall before venturing out to the island as there is much work to be done before tourism can resume in this hard hit area. Visited 02/2023: For starters, there is no beach at Horseshoe Beach unless you consider the teeny-tiny swath of sand at Horseshoe Point a beach. The water is brown and murky. Personally, I would not swim here. As for the park, it is a TINY county park with limited parking. If you have kids, there is no playground and not much for them to do. It's a good spot to have a picnic at sunset. No shade other than pavilions. There are a couple of day use pavilions available first come first served. Eight campsites and accompanying pavilions are also first come first served. You cannot reserve campsites. Camp host usually comes around at sunset to collect camping fee. No fee to use boat ramp. No dogs are allowed and this rule is strictly enforced. Dump station, bathhouse, campsites have water and electric only. The bathroom facilities are not the best, but they're not the worst I've ever seen...they are a big step up compared to Shired Island. 😳 The park and bathrooms are maintained and kept clean. NOTE: It does tend to get busy and very noisy on weekends in warmer months with loud airboat traffic, especially by the boat ramp and canal. Horseshoe Beach is a very isolated, rustic, "old Florida" fishing community. There isn't much there. A marina with a small hardware/convenience store is close by the park for firewood, limited food staples, and basics. There's a Post Office and a couple of little restaurants, an art gallery, and a couple of quaint little shops a short bike ride away.

$20 a night for out of staters. Dump station on site. Bathroom had a shower. Water didn't smell, but had sediments from faucets. We saw manatees and a pelican during our brief visit. Only 8 sites, with two taken mid week. Right on the canal next to the bay.

Nice county park on the water and great sunset. It has restrooms in the center and multiple pavilions and picnic areas with picnic tables, electric outlets, water faucets, and trash bins. Everything was clean (unfortunately, except the restrooms). Free for picnicking, with a fee for camping.

Horseshoe Beach is a perfect little place to come and take a quite walk under some amazing houses on stilts. We had our pups along for a visit to the park in which they do allow. The atmosphere in the small town kinda buzzes even in the winter. Weather your here to fish or pull up to a nice place to take a snooze. Horseshoe Beach should be on your to do list in Florida.

Was here in a picnic area a few years ago. Lady caretaker called cops on us for using plugins to use our one burner stove, charge phones & computer. Was gonna pay to camp, but caretaker ruined experience. Ate our lunch & left. Still wish her well though. Maybe she was having a grumpy day. Sad to hear of damage from recent hurricane 🌀

Took an hour to ride there but I couldn't find a sandy beach,, the Highway 351 just dead ended at the Gulf of Mexico so I parked and got in the water there. Was very quiet and peaceful and pretty scenery. Had several houses in the area for sale.

People weren’t kidding when they said this place was a hidden gem! Beautiful white sand with really interesting driftwood displayed all long the beach. It’s really off the beaten path, but it’s worth the drive if you’re looking for a peaceful

We had an awesome time with Capt Brent! He provided everything we needed and helped us to learn new fishing skills. He was great to hang out with for the day and a safe & capable captain. Coming home with a cooler full of cleaned trout was great! I w
