Great hiking trail. The 2 mile trail is awesome. Beware, though it is only fun if you are conditioned for hiking steep inclines, for there are some strenuous stretches on the return hike.
Whew, great hike, but quite the leg zapper! Unfortunately, we did not make it to the falls on the Champion Creek Trail. After going 24 hours after heavy rains, the steepness and mud about 1.25 miles in deterred us from completing the trail. The return hike was very strenuous, so not sure if we could have done another 0.75+ miles of uphills. The trail was well marked but 95% downhill to the point we turned around. Our 2 Boston Terriers loved it, but their extra legs helped them better than the humans! My wife, preteen daughter, and I each slipped before calling off our descent. But, wow, we needed multiple stops on the ascent back to the parking lot. Would probably do the hike again to completion but only on a drier day.
Great trial! Straight downhill on way down, complete opposite on way up. I would say challenging hike but not super long. Probably more like 2.5 miles based on my iPhone data. The creek at bottom is cool and nice to spend time in. I appreciated hike was remote and we only say a handful of people.
This has three trails with the Champions Creek Trail being the longest of the three at around 2.4 miles. They all start and end in the same location. The Champions Creek Trail basically is a hike down to Champions Creek - steep at times - and then loops around with a steep climb out. Nice scenery and rock slide waterfalls in the bottom Creek area. It can be hiked in less than an hour or you can take your time along the way and get in the Creek on hot days. The Trail is medium difficulty because of the steepness going in and out but not strenuous for people in decent shape...
5 stars for location! We did the 2 mile loop and saw a nice little waterfall and nice creeks along the way. The way down is easy and takes a good while, the way back is VERY steep, do not recommend if no used to strenuous hikes. There's a very nice overlook view down the road on the way to the Fainting Goat Vineyards.
Very nice trails. Lots of foraging for the kiddos to enjoy. We didn't quite make it to the creek as we were told that the trek to it is not for those who could be in better shape (very steep trails leading up to it).
Did the champion creek trail. 2.2 mile loop. Fairly hard trail. A lot of wash out. Very very quiet trail. Seems moderately maintained.
Definitely a nice trail that is really quiet. Good for an intermediate hike.

My daughter and I came here to relax for a few days during our Christmas break. It was a gift I had given to her for working so hard in college, and it turned out to be the BEST gift. We stayed in the Gibbs Garden Suite. It was incredible. The breakf
Tried the blue marked trail and came to the side of the mountain fairly quickly into the hike. There are ropes to help. It is rocky the majority of the hike. Worked great for a walking stick.
