For starters, let me just state that this was my first time ever eating African food. I had okra, white rice, and debie. This eatery was highly recommended by a friend, and it was delicious. However, the person cooking was really unpleasant when I returned alone one day, and I nearly decided not to return even though I was really craving it. I returned to give it one last try, and I'm glad I did because I visit this place nearly every week. The individual I interacted with during this interaction was really kind and supportive. I haven't tried anything else on the menu, but the white rice and okra combination is AMAZING. The best part is that there is a lot of food and it is quite reasonably priced.
Stay away from this place.
First of all the place had a very bad smell, it was so bad that I had to wait for my food outside.
I ordered the whole fried chicken, jollof rice and some other stuff. They gave me an old refried chicken, with some missing parts.
Don't even bother asking for a refund, a replacement or a manager (she's the rudest person I've ever met).
This was a complete waste of money, I threw the chicken in the garbage.
I ordered jollof rice with dibi, and attieke with grilled fish. Hands down the best african food i have had so far. It is a bit expensive but it is very worth it. Will absolutely buy again!!!

BURKINA FASO 🇧🇫
Excerpt from Eat the World NYC:
As reported on two years ago, the cuisine of Burkina Faso is not new to Newark, New Jersey. The past five years have also seen two other Burkinabé sources of food open as well a bit further south. The first, in the back of a grocery that has expanded on Lyons Avenue has remained unfortunately elusive in finding the right time to visit, while the other is a full scale restaurant that has dedicated hours and plenty of seats and tables.
The more you settle into Burkindi, the friendlier it becomes, as the food translates to smiles across your face and the staff and other Burkinabé patrons keep asking "Did you like our food?" There is of course only one answer to this question, but thankfully it is no lie. The food is delicious, and as it always is, this will be the easiest part of life to share with folks you may not have anything else in common with.
What other nearby nations call jollof rice, the delicious riz gras on this order is plated with dibi ($15), whole chunks of grilled lamb with minimal seasoning. Here at Burkindi they rely much less on the mustard and vinegar-infused onion sauce that is usually heaped on the meat and instead serve it with a mild mustard on the side. The darker sauce in the rear is delicious but all fire and should be used with caution.
I come here often to pick up my order for work. Yesterday after work I came here to take food home, but this time it took too long to pick up the order and I missed my bus(9((
The food was exceedingly M'eh! However, the service was exceptional. The flavor is very basic, totally lacking any seasoning or flavor development.
We always order food when we come in from out of state. My husband is Burkinabe so we always try to support. Food is very delicious. Service is decent. The neighbor is a little sketchy at night though. I've been here during the day previously and it's not as bad.
1st time having African food. Iâm lost in words how amazing this food is! Itâs weighed by the pound and the price is the bang for the buck!!! If youâre ever in town itâs a must GO!!!
