Beautiful place for photos. Can be a little sketchy however, not probably somewhere I would frequent after dark.
Wonderful park next to Kaw River. At the right time of the year you can watch the KU Rowing teams practicing their sport. Even on a cloudy, cold day in winter, there is wild life to enjoy watching.
if you go down the trails leading from the park itself there's some amazing places. the park, is also fantastic as it has multiple recreation areas and a very upliftng atmosphere. A solid pick if you want to explore lawrence and get outside the town a little.
Beautiful Kansas River views especially around sunset! Also new trail being upgraded and new pavilion with lots of electrical outlets under a shade that looks like a sail. Also located by the KU rowing facility that is cool to check out. Beware of homeless camp in the woods and I would avoid area late at night. Park closes at 10:30 pm. But overall nicer then it used to be 🥰
Great views of the Kaw but definitely need to drastically improve the bathroom situation. Porta-potties don't cut it.
The shelter with tables offers a great view of the river with trail access and a porta potty if needed. New swings will added soon

Burcham Park is a nice nature area. The trail is paved now which is both safer and somewhat sad--almost getting lost in the trees was part of the charm of the trail. There is fishing in the river, though I wouldn't recommend eating anything from there. The artwork throughout the park is lovely. I'm glad that Lawrence has updated the equipment and shelters.

Wonderful off leash park!
Even when the parking lot is full, you are never overwhelmed by other dogs or people. You can choose to go to the fenced-in park, the off leash play area where most dogs hang out, or you can go walk the trails and more likel
Lawrence Nature Park has some pretty awesome trails. Going down the first trailhead from the parking lot will lead you to several different paths you can take.
The ground is uneven! Easier for walking, but not so much running. Multiple areas where y
Just checked it out this evening but we will be back when we have time to hike the trail by the pond. This is a hidden gem where you can just sit and enjoy nature at it's best.
