Characterful old house set in a quiet side street that is somewhat untidy and looks uncared for with overgrown gardens and rundown properties and sidewalks. By no means worst in the street the house was fairly quaint. Room on first floor had a large bed that was very comfortable and breakfast taken in downstairs room at a round table with other guests and the owner was very good. Good choice of cereal, bread and fruit with good coffee too. The owner is a fascinating lady with wide knowledge of local area, history and the arts and was lovely to talk to. Unfortunately we did not think that some things were acceptable in a B&B. There was no closure on bedroom door that could be used from outside so door was ajar when out. This allowed one of the 3 cats in the house to be sitting on the bed when we returned. Cars were also allowed on the dining table when not set for breakfast but also came around the table during meal. Bathroom was a shared facility on landing but again no door closure other tha hook and eye which did not pull door fully closed. The shower however was excellent. Both bedroom and bathroom were dirty in areas such as room corners and around bed. Felt we were intruding into owners personal space at all times even when in our room. Would not stay here again.

My wife and I had a great experience here! We are in our late 20s, and it was the perfect place if you're looking for something different and offbeat. Beautiful, cozy, colonial-style home. Group breakfast at 8:00 AM is required (bread and fruit assortments), which we found to be very nice- it prevents you from oversleeping, and we had very lively, engaging conversations around the table each day with the owner and other guests. There is a cat on the premises, which is very friendly and will come into your room if you let it, which is great if you're like us and you're a cat/animal person (though be warned if you're allergic!).

The stairs are a little steep, but this quaint house makes a refreshing change from the standard hotel room. The breakfast is good, although 8:00 AM is THE serving time. The rooms are clean, and well appointed. The cats are very friendly. Public transportation in the form of both buses and Regional Rail is just a few blocks away.

This B&B was the perfect home away from home. I stayed in the Octagon room with a very comfortable, giant bed. The rooms had everything you need, as does the shared bathroom. Imagine staying at your very gracious aunt’s house who also makes your bed for you!||I loved the cats! They’re friendly and happy to be cuddled.||Breakfast was healthy, filling, and with wonderful company. Marney is a great resource for all things Philly. ||Room tip: Marney, the innkeeper, will acomódate to you as long as you tell her your plans ahead of time! Please be respectful of her time and place. Believe me, it’s worth it.

The only downfall was the distance from the areas we wanted to visit. It is in a very safe location though, and the host was lovely. If you like cats, all the better! She has three that roam around at their leisure and visit you. Breakfast was nice. She offers fresh fruit, cereal, and an array of different breads. She is very helpful when it comes to knowing what to do in Georgetown. She was very nice and actually drove us to a concert in the park and to dinner. It was a great place to stay! Just be prepared to Uber :) Thanks so much Marney!!

My husband and I stayed in this B&B near Christmas 2010. At the time, there was some work being done on the place, but from what I had read, that had been an ongoing thing for about 2 years. What upset us about our stay was that there are two cats living in the B&B that were not mentioned at all on the website, or in communications with the owner when we sent an e-mail letting her know that we had some allergies and wanted to make sure this would be a good fit for us. My husband is incredibly allergic to cats, so to enter our room and find one on the bed was just awful. We were not able to back out of staying since we arrived fairly late at night due to a snow storm and it was also a very busy weekend for area hotels. It was a really lousy night. In the morning, we both enjoyed showers with the litterbox right next to the bathtub. I hope things have since changed here as the location was nice, and the room very cozy. Our problem with it was what felt like dishonesty about the cats since they weren't mentioned at all in the communications about allergies. Overall, this was a nice place to stay and would be good for anyone who has no problem with cats. Otherwise, find somewhere else.

Ok....so this was quite the experience.||||For someone who likes it clean, plain and simple - do not stay here. ||I'm not the person who expects an aseptic kind of cleanliness really, i like a rustic place and don't mind a little dust here and there.||But this. The entire house smelled somehow musty (partly cat litter, partly i don't wanna know what). Our room was too crammed with stuff to be kept clean and i swear there were small pieces of skin on my bedside table!||The bathroom was not clean either, with lots of other people's hairs on the floor...||||Then there's the cats. Don't get me wrong, I adore cats and for me they weren't a problem. However, I think it should be possible to keep them out of the guests rooms. Moreover, for people with allergies, it should be very clear in the B&B's description that there are cats.||||The neighbourhood and house itself were charming and the very talkative as well as overly helpful owner Marnie was rather friendly and welcoming.||||I'm actually a fan of B&B's...but this one was not for me.

Avoid this place! Arrived after 8 hours of travel, was greeted by a cat litter smell & a "host" who couldn't wait to tell me all the house rules as I stood in the doorway with my suitcase & travel bag. Arriving in my room, the dust was so heavy that the mahogany wood furniture looked gray. I pointed this out & was told it would be dusted when I left for the evening. It was done perfunctorily. The bathroom rug in the only bathroom in the home was also dirty. The door to my room did not latch because of an over-the-door hanging rack. This allowed one of several cats to enter my room & make it its own, which I did not approve of. I was told the cat only enters when someone is in the room...HA! I arrived back late each evening to find a cat in my room, 2 nites in a row! Breakfast is at 8. Eveyone is EXPECTED to sit with the owner as she holds court. Many plastic bags of bread are laid out on a side table with a half pot of coffee...Maxwell House. Boxes of cereal are on another table. Each setting has a plate of fresh fruit, which is recycled on subsequent mornings…while smelling dirty cat litter. Most of the information provided re: Philly was inaccurate. Then there's the paying thing...cash only. I brought a check & was asked about paying 3 times, over 2 days, before checkout. The required 8.5% was replaced by a 25% tax with no explanation. I also had to request a receipt. I have stayed in B&Bs around the world. This was the absolute worst experience ever.
