This review is mainly for the staff. I was hesitant coming into the bungalows, especially with this being my first time at a hostel, but Beverly made me feel at ease the moment I checked in and even checked on me throughout my stay. She is a sweetheart. The best part of the stay was the people we met and the experience itself. The staff was cool all the way through. If you're super uptight, stay somewhere else. This place is laid back and chill. Devyn gave us some fun history deets and was overall helpful. I forgot who I believe was another one of the managers names, but unforgettably, he made us laugh like crazy one night (I know you would make it big doing stand up.) Last but not least, Arian made sure all my needs were met. I would come again for sure…. -Paulina

I never stayed at a hostel before and this place was the cheapest in Vegas. It looked a bit sketchy from the outside BUT it was quite lovely on the inside. The lady at the counter was nice and gave me a bag of blankets and a towel as she showed me around. The room was clean and the courtyard was very pretty! I got lucky with sharing a room with 3 other women that were kind and no one stole anything. There were so many people there and everyone was friendly. I am a solo female traveler and I felt safe sleeping here. Each room also had their own private bathroom and the rooms were separated by gender. It was a two mile walk to the strip but the walk was not so bad and I felt safe walking at night alone. I would stay here again.

As an artist, I appreciate the colorful shack-like structure. It is very bare bones, to say the least. Bedsheets are threadworn and smelly. I arrived very late, but they were not chill at all. No one was there, so I had to spend my first night sitting outside the place. One messed up looking dude called me fat, but no one else messed with me because I look stronger than all them. A tourist from Australia tried to sleep in my bed once. I just slept in the hallway. My beans were stolen out of the pot too!

Great people at reception and overall guests were super nice. Felt safe and welcoming. Will give you a towel and bedding. You can use equipped kitchen and the common area was really an amazing bonus

Very unique hostel with the bungalows, fits perfectly with the old school Vegas surroundings with its colourful boho decor. There are a lot of local homeless/drugged up people floating around, exchanges happened in front of your eyes. The reception team were either very happy to help with your question/request and then at other times, it was a clear nuisance and met with hostility.

This place is disgusting! The owner let a girl stay for two more weeks even after he found out she made racist comments against every black employee! Roaches in the room. Uncomfortable beds. Filthy bathrooms. The staff is a complete joke very unhelpful not to mention a bunch of dopehead alcoholics. Homeless living here. Guests have been assaulted in this area many times. Drug addicts all around this location very unsafe neighborhood. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE EVEN IF YOUR DESPERATE!!

Extremely disrespectful woman at the reception. She doesn’t let us speak and can’t solve anything.||I had a TERRIBLE experience there and it was only 1 night. I had booked a room for a night since I was going to the WWWY festival. I got there one day before and since it was after 11pm, nobody was at the reception anymore, so I wasn’t able to see if there was a bed available for one more night. Well, until that part it’s ok. ||But, then, the other I got to the Hostel as soon as they opened and this very rude woman was at the reception and she charged me $10 for an early check in. I paid and went to my room to take a shower and leave because there was still a guy in my bed. So, when I was leaving, this same woman at the reception came to me and said I shouldn’t worry because everything would be all set for me when I got back from the festival and the bedding would be perfectly there with the bed cleaned up.||When I got back from the show, exhausted, after 11pm (there’s no reception anymore after that time), my bed was EMPTY. No bedding at all!!! And it was a bed literally glued to the AC!!! ||So, I barely slept, and in the morning, I talked to the other receptionist who was much nicer and she understood the situation and said they were gonna refund me and that I would get an email from them confirming it. But, here I am waiting their response. They never sent the email or responded the ones I sent and when I call, that rude lady says she can’t do nothing and hangs up the phone on me.||I recommend you to stay away from this place!!! They are terrible.

The Bungalows Hostel is NOT a hotel. I was looking to have an adventure, so instead of staying at a hotel, I slept in a bottom bunk in a 12 person, multi-sex, dorm room. You are issued bedding upon check-in; a fitted sheet, top sheet, blanket, pillow case, and a bath towel. Each bunk bed has a single sized mattress, so this is NOT a place for couples or families. The mattress, however, was VERY comfortable. The rooms were clean and spacious; I was never feeling cramped with so many people in there. The buildings were in simple and in good repair, albeit old and showed it. But everything worked just as you would expect it to.||There are lockers in the rooms into which you can place your valuables while away. You can bring your own lock or buy one from management. A lock was $8 (US) at the front desk, car only; no cash. I brought my own, but the shackle was too large, so I got one. I put my suitcase under the bed, and I was there for four days and no one touched my stuff. Hostels operate on the honor system, and everyone behaved themself quite nicely. I felt safe and secure the entire time.||There is a kitchen with two stoves and all the equipment you could want to cook yourself a meal; pots, pans, baking sheets, spatulas, turners, spoons, knives, cutting boards, etc. There's a toaster and a toaster oven, a hot pot, microwave, and a coffee maker. I brought food to cook for myself, but apparently the type of person that stays at a hostel is the type that likes to share. Several times during my stay, someone made more than enough for themselves and everyone who wanted to dug in. In two separate evenings, I had some roast chicken and some baked halibut. I volunteered to wash the dishes afterward to make myself useful! There are also three refrigerator/freezers. While I was there, they were very full of food, but they are cleaned out every Thursday, so mark your container with your name and check out date to avoid getting your food tossed away.||The Bungalows Hostel is located at the extreme north end of Las Vegas Boulevard; "The Strip," about a quarter mile south of Charleston. It's about a half mile north of The Stratosphere, across the street from a row of those quirky wedding chapel places where you can get Elvis to perform your ceremony. They're legal, too! While I was there, I witnessed at least a couple of dozen wedding parties gathered out on the Strip getting photos taken. There's plenty of parking on the south side of the building. It costs $5 a night to park your car, but it's not a secure lot. I was there four days, I never moved my car except for once, and during that time my car was not touched. Neither were any of the other cars that were there with mine. It's not the best part of Vegas, but it's obviously not the worst, either.||The friendly staff does a good job keeping the place running. They kept track of everyone coming and going and kept the place clean. The paperwork is minimal, and everyone that was there was aware of the limitations of staying in a hostel versus a hotel. Honestly, there was awesome camaraderie amongst the guests, and I would like to say I made some friends. There's a common room with a TV, cable, and a DVD player. A bunch of us stayed up late one night watching scary movies together. Other times there were groups of new friends hanging out in the courtyard, chatting, comparing stories, playing guitar, and playing games together. ||I enjoyed my time there very much. The next time I visit Las Vegas, I will probably stay in one of the high rise hotel/casinos. That's an experience all of its own. But I hope that I get the chance to stay at The Bungalows Hostel again in the future. I had a fantastic time there and going back is high on my list of experiences I want to have again.
