It's a nice little place I found passing by looking for a place to "discover", may be a trail or a beach, but what i found was much more than that; what lacks in space is make up by actually taking the time to talk to the guy who was there that day, very friendly and knowledgeable, he told me about the display they have and how just recently they change it, having beautiful birds of pray and 2 huge pelicans (one who's local to the area, and the other that's not), I asked if they had any programs for children and he mentioned that scouts do have every once in a while some activities, then he asked me if I was familiar with the botanic gardens in Encinitas and after seeing some pictures, I definitely wants to go see it. So whether u r new to the area, or a local, stop by to this place and found new things to do, go and discover.

Wonderful nature center with awesome information on local flora and fauna.Great for a short walk and a visit with kods for special events held on site.

Nice collection of preserved animals of the southern California lagoons. Trail is only 1/4 mi long.

I felt like I was transported to some watering land. The cat tails were so tall, I felt a sense of being a wilderness. The trials are well kept up. The volunteer was an encyclopedia of information and the welcome center was fun. There is a board with pictures of birds on one side and their names on the other. (Tip use both wires. One touches the screw underneath the bird and the other one touches the screw next to the name of the bird. Parking is free but the lot is small.

What a peaceful place to walk among the rushes among hovering dragonflies and birdsong, listening to the wind blowing in surges. Alternating sunshine and shade make it a little very respite in nature.

Beautiful place to walk the dog. Peaceful and quiet.

Lots of activities for kids with knowledgeable volunteers. My 6, 8 & 9 1/2 grandchildren had educational and fun time. They stayed until the end occupying themselves with weaving, fishing, treasure hunt and many more enjoyable activities.

An overlooked gem tucked away on the inland side of Coast Highway 101 immediately north of the lagoon. Plenty of parking. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and informative center. Offers a short, lovely short stroll (flat) trail loop where you are immersed in a sea of head high reeds. I'm no bird watcher, but enjoyed the nature immersion.
