Budget Inn - Motel in Harrisonburg - 687 E Market St, USA

The service was great, very nice people. The new owner seems to take pride in his establishment unlike the previous owner. I noticed during my week there that the maintenance staff was constantly hard at work repairing old stuff and making the motel look much nicer. We stayed the week without 1 issue. Was never noisy or loud. Much better and different than when we stayed when the previous owner was in charge. I even took a liking to the fact that the new owner seems to treat those who live at the motel sort of like a adopted family,taking time to stop and speak to each one. All and all it was a fine stay and id stay again.

We booked this room based on the pictures provided and the options that were supposed to be included in this room. What isn't said about this room is how incredibly small they are, the fact that prostitutes are living below the room and coming and going in vehicles that drive up and honk the horn at all hours of the night, the doors lock doesn't work properly and the only thing that holds it closed was a chain lock that was so loose it wouldn't hold even a strong breeze out. But wait there's more... the TV is maybe from the early 90's with incredibly fuzzy picture in the one channel we could get because it required 2 remotes and we only had one. The air conditioner smelled like old rooting fish, the carpet is stained, the walls are cracked, the toilet flushes for 30 minutes before it stops and randomly flushes throughout the night. The bathroom sink has very little to no pressure and the shower only gets like warm at best. The microwave was the newest amenity that was in the room and I cannot tell you whether it worked well or not because the entire receptacle it was plugged into stopped working after it was on for less than 10 seconds. The bed was the only plus and you could tell it was very old and pets have been in this room with very little of the pet hair cleaned. I asked for a refund and I was told there is a strict no refund policy. They offered to switch rooms for me, however the room they offered was much more disgusting then the original room. This is by far the worst room I have ever stayed in. Please, PLEASE do not book here. Update: After a second discussion with the management a refund was given for this room. They were very apologetic for this inconvenience and admitted the pictures on the website are very misleading. The staff I dealt with the second discussion handled the situation very professionally. What it boils down to is you get what you pay for and with a hand shake that is how the conversation ended.

I stayed here for 3 nights ,and the people at the front desk were friendly ,but it is obvious they are in over their heads. The room... Start with the good, the sheets were fresh and clean, that's it. The room was very run down, i went to Walmart and bought bleach for the shower and lysol for the entire room. This room was on the back side of the motel and it looked as if there were some vagrants living there as well.... If you must stay get a room in the front of the building, i guess they are not as bad... With all of this said, I saw no roaches, so that was good.... I would have bailed in 2 seconds if that was the case.

The place definitely needs some work. Room was musty smelling - had to open windows to get some fresh air so we could close the doors and sleep. The towels felt like card board and only one set of them in a king size bed room. The mattress was so soft it swallowed us up and they advertise in-room coffee in the Marquee, but no sugar or cream? Cheapest place in town. Ya get what ya pay for I guess!

Walking into the room...it seemed like a normal “you get what you pay for”. That was fine. One complaint was no outlets in bathroom. Anyway, putting that aside...we kept hearing beeping. We dismissed it, left & came back after 11pm. The beeping continued. I called front desk and he told me it was our smoke detector and to take out the batteries. Nope, I told him it wasn’t bc ours already had the battery out. You know...safety first. We had to sleep all night with the beeping. Upon checkout, I tried to explain and was just told we were noisy. I just gave up then because we weren’t noisy and the lady had no clue. Bright side: sheets were clean but next time I will gladly pay more to stay somewhere else.

The woman at the desk was nice, that's it. The room was horrible, I'm not that picky. ||No outlet in bathroom. Crunchy blankets, smelly musty room. ||I was the only person in this whole hotel,obviously I did not read the reviews. The whole town was booked for JMU graduation. I would rather sleep in my car. ||Toilet nasty, no bulb in lamp, rusty vents, the shower was the last straw, backed up on me while showering, not to mention the screaming pipes. Dust behind the bed, hope to God no bed bugs, this place is not maintained at all. Had to make coffe on the floor due to the outlets not working, just not a place to stay unless you have your eyes closed.

Didn't book ahead, just stopped in on a Saturday evening June 18, 2016. Room was very hot when we arrived. The room was dirty. I found trash under and beside the bed. The shower wasn't clean. What I didn't like most was that the place had an unsavory feeling. Saw questionable activity going on. I'd never stay again.

Friendly staff. The wifi works well. The property is being updated and renovated to give the place a great facelift and welcoming appearance. Relaxed atmosphere and staff is warm and quick to help in any way they can. I am loving the new improving appearance and updating of the place. It is coming along nicely and will be excited to see how it looks when its done
