We drove into Kirksville late one night and should’ve paid the extra $30 for a cleaner hotel in town. We had 2 bedrooms that Both smelled like sewer and cigarettes. One of the toilets had diarrhea down the front outside of the toilet bowl. We slept on top of the bed, not using the sheets. One bed had a large dent in the middle that you rolled into. There was no way we were taking showers or baths in either rooms. The next morning we saw what looked like a bed bug (apple seed) crawling along the ground near all of our things and booked it out of there for fear that we would bring it into our new home we were about to move into that day. This is not a matter of needing to be pampered. This experience was a few months ago and to this day our kids, both 6 and 3, frequently refer to this place as “the stinky hotel”. It was that memorable for all of us.
That is prolly the nastiest most run down ghetto motel ive ever been to! Cigarette burns on everything, door key consistently would not work and had to get it redone if i left and came back, other guests were rude loud and more than likely doing drugs. Avoid at all cost!!
The rooms were decently sized. Poor water pressure in the shower. My biggest issue was the stained bedding and the musty smell in the rooms plus the amount of shady people that hang out there.
Location is the only thing that's great about this hotel and the price is lower than the other hotel's it's great for homeless people and Drug dealers and disrespectful people rooms are dirty and the service is next to none
The fact that I have to waste time giving this poor excuse of a motel a review, is so irritating. Roaches roaches roaches. They were crawling out of the microwave and refrigerator. Sheets had rips in them. Kept one eye open all night. We had a military reunion and the clerk quoted a retired vet a price for one night, and then doubled the price when he drove in - no other places available by then. You’re better off sleeping in your car.
We just needed 1 night when we were visiting our daughter. We're not very picky people so I booked due to the low price. We made it through the night, but the smoky smell (even though the confirmation said we were getting a non-smoking room) was the most intense I've ever experienced - i never got used to it. The mattress was ancient - you could feel the springs and when you sat on the edge you almost went to the floor. I thought I read that they had updated rooms and mattresses in reviews I read, but if that's true, we sure didn't get one of those. People were nice and while things were old and smoky, The wifi was free and it worked so that was a nice surprise. I felt it as clean as they could get a shabby room in bad need of updating.
i stayed at the budget host over thanksgiving. my room was very clean and quiet which really suprised me considering how busy it was during the holiday. the staff was knowledgeable about local resturants and attractions and the hotel is in a great location...there is a convienence store and multiple fast food resturance within 2 minutes walking distance. the cleaning staff was efficient and very polite which was helpful because i really would have rather been at home for the holidays. i would deffinately recommend this hotel for anyone. they were just really nice and that goes a long way in my book!
This is a motel straight out of the 80's. Don't stay here and don't review unless you understand the difference between that and a corporate chain hotel. As a motel, it's marvelous. Little bit of water damage on the bathroom ceiling but it's not crumbling so it doesn't bother me. Clean carpets, clean counters, clean drapes and freshly made beds. TV, mini fridge and microwave included in the room. We got a smoking room and staff still managed to keep it ash free and tidy. The door opens by keycard with a chain lock and a 2" deadbolt. The door also leads straight out to parking so you don't have to cart belongings around, although 2nd floor is up a flight of stairs. Wonderful water pressure, clean shower curtain and clean shower floor (that's a huge one for me). No noise from adjoining rooms. The parking lot leads right out to the main road. If you don't need to be pampered while traveling it's ideal and affordable.

Gyro is the best I have had anywhere. Wife had a chicken sandwich thing, she liked it. Both of us had fries. We also had the baklava. That was just okay. I come here every time I am in Kirksville.
Fun local spot in Kirksville. Friendly staff, nice environment. We tried the Island Fries - wonderful! Cold drinks of all kinds and a wonderful kids menu too.
The store was clean, brought, easy to navigate, and the staff was very friendly. I went in to get a photo and letter frame and they had it completed very quickly.
