Budget Host Inn (Mel-Dor Motel) - Motel in New Berlinville - 5 Spring Garden Dr, USA

Wanted a nice weekend with my girlfriend. I’m a young adult, the owner was angrily hassling us on how white people come in and smoke at his motel all the time, which has nothing to do with us. He kept standing around as we were unpacking asking us questions and looking at our bags we carried in. Carpets were stained, bathroom stunk, and there were red/brown spots on the walls. We left and went somewhere else. Happily told us “no refunds” F that

This used to be a nice place to stay for basic, clean lodging when it was cared for by mom-n-pop small business owners. It was a busy motel when Rt 100 was more heavily traveled, but now it seems to be an odd place for a motel with about 40 rooms in two buildings. Currently the place seems to need a lot…new carpeting and bedding, and better quality air-conditioning to start (based on my room). On the plus side, the proprietor is friendly and was quick to help with a small problem in my room. The TV was as good as most motels/hotels, and the place is very reasonably priced for a basic place to stay. The Mel-Dor is definitely a nostalgic visit to a time when most travelers lodged in independently owned small businesses rather than large chain corporations.

I rented out the room for 3 days and I loved it. It was very quiet, pet friendly, affordable, super clean and overall everyone was very friendly. The location is very convenient, it’s literally located in an area where everything is 5 mins away or less including Walmart. I totally recommend for anyone to book a stay here ❤️

If your looking for a budget friendly place to stay this is it. Room was clean and tidy. Bed was nice large and clean as well. My only issue was that the tv seemed to be sporadicly working. I am one of those that can’t sleep without it on and it seems they shut off the reception in the rooms. It is a small complaint but it was somewhat surprising to not be able to access the weather in the morning. The traffic on the road outside seemed light during the evenings but by 6 am it was quite loud. If your a solo traveller it’s not a bad place to lay your head down for a night

Good get away from my home just cause. Unfortunately I'd assume too many taking things they shouldn't make it hard to get extra amenities such as an extra towel or blanket. Those items would have upped my rating. But that's ok. I still enjoyed the time away and the quiet location of the motel.

I love it here!!! The owner and his family are so nice and Happy to help you with what ever you need....and the rooms are cozy and homely feeling....

I really enjoyed my stay here. Their location was perfect for the wedding g I was attending and it is quiet. The bed I had in my room was extra firm and for me personally, an absolute plus. (Others may prefer softer.) The exhaust fan in the bathroom however did not function. I hope it'll be fixed. Thanks for the peaceful stay. 😉👍

Decent room. AC was great. Location was excellent. Service was good. Nice to be able to sit outside. Nice that they have HBO Cinimax. It is dated but we didn't spend much time in the room. We would stay again.
