Brookwood Inn - Motel in Spartanburg - 4930 College Dr, USA

I would like to start this review with a rhetorical question, is charging an extra $15 a day for your pet really pet friendly? Ok, that little incidental isn't mentioned anywhere. Is that friendly? No, that's throwing the friendly word around too much. In the"about" section of this motel pretty friendly is there twice. No mention of an extra fee. Fact check. This motel isn't run well. It's grassy areas are full of trash and equipment. The parking lot is a little scary. And then there's the sign in the office about a pet charge. Not to mention when I called I was told they didn't except pets, honesty is not a virtue there. I don't have anything positive. Sorry.

roaches were pretty bad so didn't want to set any food or drink down, and towels were stained, housekeeping didn't seem very attentive to the rooms so I went and bought cleaner and disinfectant to clean the room myself. I guess it's ok in a pinch but I wouldn't stay there again unless I absolutely had no other choice. It was cheap though so it is what it is. Vending machines had cold drinks and the guy who runs the place was nice and will get broken stuff taken care of and maintenance came fast to fix the TV and microwave.

The owner Sonny is really nice, and so is Anna, the housekeeper. Our room is clean, no bugs, and the rates are reasonable. I haven’t seen many shady characters like some of these reviews have stated. Everyone keeps to themselves for the most part. I’m glad we decided to give them a shot. And I love all the kitty cats. :)

The owner is prejudiced against women. He is very rude and disrespectful. The rooms are infested with not only roaches and bed bugs. They have fleas and rats. No room service to speak of. Be lucky if they have washed the bed linen or cleaned the bathroom.

The front desk man, Sunny, was very polite, informative, & helpful. He knew the area well, & was able to give us directions for dinner & shopping! Very clean hotel, rooms were clean & comfortable & well stocked with towels, shampoos, soaps, etc. It's off the main highway, so noise want an issue!

It's very cluttered, personal belongings scattered, broke down cars parked in the parking lot. There were people sleeping in the stair wells while it looked like others were doing drugs. Terrible experiences, but at the time there were no other hotels available. Holiday weekend.

I’ve been here for 3 almost 4 weeks now. I stay here 24/7 as my husband takes the car to work. Ive seen housekeeping ONE time. If I need toilet paper I have to go get it. I started just buying my own pack at the store. Need clean sheets? You’ll get them around lunch time or later. They change the comforter ever two weeks, so when my daughter peed on hers (sleeping, toddler) we didn’t get another one. Need trash bags? Better save your grocery bags or go get em yourself. No ice machine. From what I’ve gathered there’s one washing machine and one dryer.. I’ve been waiting to use them for two days as they’re alwaysssss in use 🙄 $2.50 to wash and dry isn’t bad tho. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve learned there’s always complaints about the kids who stay here playing outside. I haven’t had any complaints about my 8yo & 4yo ❤️ We mostly stay inside and to ourselves. Best way to be these days. But it bothers me that the owner or staff.. even guests have a problem because none of the kids bother anyone I’ve watched them .. they’re polite and respectful 🙌🏻 But these are TINY rooms with 4+ people staying in them. TINYYY rooms. Kids need to play outside and they need to be watched closely this day and age. So the fact of kids being kids is a problem really rubs me the wrong way. 🤔😒 and to top it allll off there’s a pool.. a pool that’s not in use. And I’m sure the pool amenities are apart of my room price.. $330/wkly.. should it not be discounted.? We decided to stay here under the impression it would be open soon.. yet to see any signs they’re opening the pool. 🤔 oh and the first room I was in the sinks hot water handle broke 🤣😂 just broke while trying to turn on the water. And the second room, the towel rack fell, screws and all just came out of the wall. 🤨

I'd give it zero stars if I could. I pulled in this morning, circled the building twice and pulled right out again. In the rear parking lot was an abandoned truck with no plates and flat tires. There was old furniture piled outside some of the rooms. There were signs from 2014 still on some of the rooms saying: "Condemned - Unfit for Human Habitation". Lock sets were missing from some of the room doors. Unsavory looking males and females were standing around outside. Not a place that I'd ever consider staying in.
