Brooklyn Wildlife Area - Wildlife refuge in Belleville - County Hwy D, USA

Excellent trails in winter. Well groomed & wide for most sections (a few thorns along the sides). Nice loops available towards the south end. Great views and a few rock outcroppings too.

It's not too far away from Madison at just a 15 minute drive from Verona. This area has long trails going through lightly forested rolling hills. On a bright day, you'll get some pleasant canopy shade and decent views every few minutes along the trail. While the trails aren't perfect with several spots starting to grow over, you shouldnt have any problems. Wear long clothing or bug repellent when coming here though since the overgrowth has cultivated many a spider.

Best view around locals say. Well maintained trails of mostly oak, some pine and birch around birthday hill. Vast prairies and winding water way. Beautiful and serene place to end the day.

Great trails and usually not that many people. That being said, it is pretty creepy walking through the woods once it gets dark out! Also, recommend hiking boots and wearing blaze orange as it’s a hunting area too!

Great trails. Some trails with a bit of slope. A little slippery in the snow, but nothing the kids couldn't do. Off street parking lot is available.

One of my favorite WI hiking, fishing and nature photography locations. Accessible and remote.

I think the section that just opens up to County D should have a fence or something?! There are no trail markers or signs either; so get techy(trail app) or creative.
