Brookings Inn Resort - Motel in Brookings - 1143 Chetco Ave, USA

Don't let the negative reviews fool you guys, for the price, this hotel was unbeatable! It was completely packed when we went, and the staff was beyond exceptional. Room was clean, and updated, pool/hot tub was in full swing full of happy families. And the room had an ocean view. Definitely going to stay again, zero complaints.

I took a chance and reserved a room at the Brookings Inn Resort, even though it looked a bit shabby from the outside. Still, the price was right for our budget. This older motel is on the north end of Brookings and is budget-priced. ||My friend and I were excited to be able to swim in the highly advertised indoor pool and soak in the hot tub. We packed out swimsuits and drove to Brookings for a little getaway. Upon checking in, we learned that neither the pool nor the hot tub were working and they didn't know when or if they would be in the future. This was very disappointing. However, we got to stay in their large 3 bed suite and we enjoyed the space. The lack of wi-fi in the room was disappointing, as was the lack of a microwave, hair dryer, or proper lighting for each bedroom. ||There was one table lamp in each room. In the separate bedroom, you could not turn on the lamp without turning on the very bright ceiling light. This was most unpleasant and inconvenient. The bonus for some travelers is there is a TV in each room. We didn't use the TVs. ||The website boasts the room's wi-fi, clock radio, and hair dryer, none of which actually came with our room. It was like the pool and hot tub. ||I discovered the "blackout drapes" did not actually black out the spotlights outside our room. I used pillows over my face to block the light as I am light sensitive when sleeping. ||The bathroom was recently upgraded and nicely done with brushed nickel fixtures. There was plenty of hot water and water pressure, lots of towels, and shampoo, etc. The room was very clean and well-maintained. The bed was quite firm and had nice bedding. The heater worked well. The door locked. It was quite at night. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and kind. These were the pluses. ||Know that this is a bare-bones motel with no resort amenities. It is priced accordingly. If my friend and I had known what to expect, we would have packed differently and would have not been so disappointed in the lack of advertised amenities.

Me and my family ended up in a pretty unfortunate situation and needed immediate temp "housing" after the 4th of July weekend. We were told we could check in after 4pm. We showed up at 4:30 exhausted and ready to settle in, our room still wasn't ready, but the receptionist found a room for a family, with pets allowed that had already been cleaned and got us set up in another room right then and there. The staff was awesome and polite and the pool was great! I was very impressed by all they did. My little one really wanted hot cocoa and their coffee area was out, but the receptionist went and located a packet for her anyways! Was truly a great stay!

We picked this place based off information from Google. The hot tub amenity was the final driver. We got there to check in and first sign when you walk in, hottub is not available. The person at the front desk mentioned it hasn't been for a while and needs to be removed from the website. Bummer. Wish we would have brought our own pillows, totally our mistake for forgetting them. The ones in the room are tiny and flat. The stairs have roofing shingles on Them which is really great for traction. The lights on the courtyard facing balcony are bright and shine into your room. We weren't able to figure out a way to effectively block them out. Woke up several times thinking the sun was up and I overslept.

We stay here every time we come to Brookings. The recent upgrades are excellent! Our room is clean, spacious, and comfortable. My family throughly enjoys the indoor pool surrounded by the glass atrium. Marianne checked us in for our stay, she knew my name when I came in, and was incredibly sweet and very pleasant. We also enjoy how close we are to the Harris Beach. Overall great place to stay.

Pool and hot tub were unexpectedly down for maintenance, which is fine since they warned me two days prior.. But then there were only 3 pillows for two people in a king size bed, so I made a pillow out of clothes and towels (I asked for more but they “didn’t have any” despite having dozens of empty rooms). Very convenient location for food and beach access, but the hotel seems to be going through renovations atm. Great prices though!

At first when we checked in and got to our room we were pleasantly surprised and were loving it. No microwave in the room - okay, that's a drag but we can deal. The beds were comfortable and the AC worked just fine, and the water pressure and heat was great. Kids loved the pool. But - the TV didn't work. Sound, no video. I called front desk and even though it was evening she tried to make it work for us but unfortunately with no extra rooms we couldn't move, so we had no working TV all night. Not a problem, I asked for a discount because of this. When I went to confirm with morning clerk I was told it was a known issue. So a known issue with the room and the TV, that we were not made aware of before checking in and paying. Management needs to talk to owner in order to see if we could possibly get a discount back on our rate. Not happy with this, at all. I'll be reaching out to hotel to ensure that we get some sort of discount back due to their false representation of their room. Room was also recently renovated, as evidenced by the paint splatters on the ground. There was also a hole in the wall and missing light sconce. Zero places to sit besides the beds. The floors were dirty and the deadlock on the door didn't engage all the way. The front desk clerks, though, were amazingly nice and tried their hardest to accommodate but it looks like their hands were tied by management. Not happy.

It's not a Hilton. I have no idea what all the negative reviews are about. It's a clean hotel to sleep and shower. Beds, towels, bathroom and floors were all clean. The desk staff was nice and housekeeping was working hard all day Sunday. If you're looking for something to complain about, you'll find it, but if you're looking for a place to shower and sleep while you play in the ocean or redwoods, this is a reasonably priced spot.
