Terrific experience! The atmosphere is very nice. Beautiful water view, soft lighting, simple yet elegant decor and beautiful piano create the perfect ambiance. Service was fantastic! Our server was personable and extremely efficient. She knew the menu well and was easily able to assist us in ordering gluten free meals for our 3 Celiac kiddos. The food was superb!! They have so many gluten free options and everything we ordered was prepared to perfection. We are new to the area and was looking for a nice meal to celebrate my husband’s birthday and Bridgewater Bistro didn’t disappoint! The desserts are great as well. They even still give a dessert for birthdays! They also have several gluten free desserts as well, my kids were very excited for that. Overall it was a great experience and we will most definitely be returning!

This was our 5th and final stop in Astoria. We wanted a sit down with good fish and chips, before getting back on the boat, and found our way here. The service was awesome, friendly and informative. On the classy side featuring a warm fire place with couches. The fish and chips were awesome, the show stopper though was our smoked salmon appetizer with maple syrup.

I’ve eaten here twice when visiting Astoria, once in 2020 and then just recently. Both times my boyfriend and I have really enjoyed the dinner and service has always been exceptional. There was a mixup with one of the servers serving us our soup on time and they comped it without us even asking, which I didn’t even feel was necessary as the mix up wasn’t that big of a deal. The steak is okay, but I really enjoyed the crab cheesecake and my entree. Dessert was very good as well. They have a good wine selection, but the bottles are (as expected) marked way up. We paid around $45 for a $25 bottle of wine but that’s typical at restaurants. We will visit again whenever we’re back in town.

Delighted to find them open after clamming this evening, I stopped by for a cup of tea and dessert before driving home to Portland. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. A pianist played at the piano adding to the ambiance. The menu is full of excellent offerings including many seafood dishes, steak, and a variety of delicious appetizers, but tonight it was their Hungarian Mushroom soup that caught my eye. The soup was hearty and delicious, definitely the best I have ever had. It was served with bread and whipped butter. Paired with Darjeeling tea, lemon and honey it was perfect. For dessert I had a lovely mixed berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream that was the perfect finish to the evening. My waiter was very cordial serving me promptly with a warm smile. A couple seated near me were celebrating their anniversary, another party a birthday. Everyone was enjoying the evening with excellent food, drinks and service. Check their hours before you go. They were open until 9 this time, but I've been by before for lunch when they were closed. The dress is typically business casual or better so you might want to bring a change of clothes if you're blowing in off the beach.

Food was tasty, but portions were so small for the price you pay. There are other "fine dining" experiences in Astoria that give you more of a bang for your buck with more unique and thoughtful dishes. Great view, nice waitstaff, but the menu feels dated and impersonal.

This is normally our “go-to” restaurant when we are in Astoria, which is quite often. I’m not quite sure where to start with our last visit. Full-on mixed emotions. We had reservations and were specifically going for the crab cheesecake, which has been one of my favorite items on the menu since they featured it as a special sometime before summer I believe. The crab cheesecake is $20 a slice, which is quite hefty for an appetizer, however it’s well worth it when it’s made to perfection. This visit, it was not. On top of that, the hostess at the door was very rushed and seemed overwhelmed the entire time and then when we told her that our party went from 4 people to 7 people, it was met with resistance and what appeared to be annoyance. We explained that the (4) top can take the reservation and the other (3) can wait until something opens up. We were in a bit of a rush and needed to head back to Scappoose as soon as possible, and we were with another couple. She said the table was being cleaned and we would be sat shortly. We asked if we could order some drinks at the bar while we waited and she said that she would prefer if we waited until we sat at our table because the bartender was extremely busy. So we waited. And waited. Aaaaand waited. After about 25-30 minutes, my husband got impatient and went to the bar so that we could at least enjoy a cocktail with our friends before they had to leave. We were finally seated at a table, almost 50 minutes after our reservation. Our guests at that time had to leave…without eating, and we were rushed to order appetizers that would get to our table quickly so that we could eat in a hurry and then leave. Not my favorite thing to do when trying to enjoy delicious food. Anyway, ordered the crab cheesecake, the brussel sprouts, some oysters, and the bruschetta. They brought some complimentary bread to the table for the long wait, which was actually DELICIOUS. But then when the $20 crab cheesecake arrived…my mouth dropped. Completely not the same cheesecake I’ve had in the past and was QUITE disappointed. The size, the texture, the consistency, the sauce…wow. Could not believe my eyes. The server actually saved the day and was really wonderful and had a great personality, so he changed my attitude slightly. However the entire experience was really frustrating. I’ve included a shot of the crab cheesecake that I ordered that very first time I got hooked, and it’s next to the cheesecake that arrived at our table this week. Based on that, it would be very hard for me to even consider ordering that again for what is actually delivered to the table. I get that they were busy. But we were met with crankiness from the very beginning from the hostess as soon as we walked in the door, and then it all went downhill from there. I’m a top Google photographer and shoot food as a side gig, and the first cheesecake photo already has over 2500 views in just the last 48 hours, however, that’s not what you get when you place your order. Not sure if I should remove it or not, but it’s super disappointing. The first shot looks like an actual piece of gourmet cheesecake, the second shot looks like a piece of disheveled “broken” pie. For $20, not too happy. Our extremely nice server said that we wouldn’t get a check, which seemed AMAZING and very kind, however we did indeed get a check, but they did take care of our friend’s drinks and an appetizer.

Bridgewater Bistro. Nice place. Good food. Great service. Good views over the river. Got to watch ships going up and down the river. the chowder was great. The crab cheese cake was meh - it tasted like quiche. They had tents on the patio so people could eat outside in poor weather.

Great place with great views. I suggest getting a reservation then maybe you will get a window with a view. We did not have one and were sat in a corner away from the windows. The Hungarian mushroom soup was delicious.
