Bona Dea trails and sanctuary - Hiking area in Russellville - Bona Dea Trails, USA

Absolutely one of my favorite places I’ve ever accidentally found. I live about two hours from here but this is my fifth visit since I first discovered it. It is an amazing trail. Well up coyote definitely worth a visit!

Lots of nice swamps and ponds. Many miles of trail options to make loops to get as many miles as you want any. An alligator. I go twice a day, so that says something. Only knock off one star because the Corp of Engineers refuse to fix a major bridge that really stands in the way of getting miles without backtracking.

I walk this trail often. IT has a lot of shade except for the first 1/4 mile. I was walking this trail last month when it was 110 outside. The trail is natural and has several small ponds and slews. There is an alligator as well but I have never seen it with my own eyes. I have seen it in several pics though. You can walk the entire trail of 3 plus miles in about 1hr and 45 minutes.

Beautiful walking trails, mostly paved, extending along the edge of Lake Dardanelle near Russellville. You can walk, jog, run, or ride your bike. Bring your dog (on a leash). The eastern end is adjacent to Veterans Park. The western end is adjacent to Washburn Park. Picnic tables, a playground for kids, and a small 4-table lighted pavilion are at Washburn Park. Also, the trails are handicapped accessible. It’s a great place to experience nature just on the Russellville edge of Lake Dardanelle. There is also a boat launch near Washburn Park. On the eastern end are exercise stations at various locations accompanied by signs showing you how to properly do the exercises. There’s a quaint gazebo on the eastern end which is a great spot to just take a rest or read a book. Public restrooms are available at both ends.
