Boarders Inn & Suites by Cobblestone Hotels - Wautoma - Hotel in Wautoma - W7696 WI-21 & 73, USA

Rooms were decent, but dated, and needs updated and paint, at least in the suite I stayed in. The pool looked a little worn, so we didn't swim. 2nd shift guy was more than difficult, when explaining I was eligible for employee discount, but he did finally review the policy and applied the discount to my rooms. Breakfast was good. Day shift was great with checking out. I'll be back if I'm in the area. Thanks for a nice overnight stay.

This is your typical 2-star hotel. I like a nice big lobby where I can hang out because I wake up way earlier than my husband, and this hotel has that. It has a funny smell to it (like cigarette smoke or it's just really old or something). I did not notice that smell in my room though. The hotel is clean enough. I didn't walk in and think, "Wow, this place is really clean!" but it was fine. It was quiet at night and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We were spending our days at a lake home, so we weren't there very much every day, so it suited our purposes just fine. The breakfast is your typical continental breakfast - waffles, yogurt, cereal, coffee, juice, etc. The staff was really nice and helpful!

The pet area outside is ok|The rooms are musty and in need of remodeling. |Television does not work. |Only a couple rooms have cable tv. Be sure to ask and check before staying in room. The pool area is ok. |Check expiration dates on the food. We opened sour milk.

Everyone was SO NICE! There was an employee at the front desk, that I noticed had a 12 year "recognition" on her name plate. Super woman! She must work the midnight shift. Loved her. Being from northern Minnesota, I asked about the area, and she was gracious enough to take a minute to tell me alittle. We just don't get that kind of service anymore. Kudos to her!! I would hire her if I interviewed her!!

The room was so humid and musty my family could hardly sleep. Old & outdated furniture, carpet and bathrooms. The ceiling was dripping into large garbage cans outside my door in the hallway. Breakfast was a joke - stale bagels, bread and muffins. With fruit that looked like it had been sitting out for days.

Positive: The staff was friendly Negative: We had five rooms. One room had ants. One room had poor water shower pressure. One had lights that didn?t work.

Buyer beware. The pictures on their website are dated, this property is in need of much TLC from power washing cobwebs off the exterior, to new paint, some of the draperies you see from the outside look ratty & tattered. Property also needs real basic / regular cleaning in the interior (one example is that windows inside pool area were full of spiderwebs, dead bugs, etc.). We were in the area for my son's MTB race & he said to me as we pulled into the parking lot, dad, I think we should stay somewhere else (the first appearance is that dumpy & he used to be a scout, so he's stayed at some bad scout camps). Upon leaving, he said "dad, next year, we should just drive back & forth (100 miles each way) from home for the Saturday / Sunday MTB event." Our door didn't fit in its frame well, so every room within about 5 rooms on either side of us could hear when we closed / opened our door. The shower in the pool area only had ice cold water & that bathroom should be deep cleaned. The name of the place including "& Suites" led us to believe all rooms were "suites" (but our room was a normal hotel sized room). Hotel staff took their smoke breaks mere feet from the front door, so you had to walk through their cigarette smoke to enter / exit the main lobby. Hotel staff could have been more friendly (they weren't rude, they just didn't acknowledge your presence if you passed them in the hallway / lobby). They did not air condition the lobby / halls, which on a hot weekend got quite muggy. Rooms need more outlets &/or USB ports to charge phones, watches, etc. at night. (or bring a power strip so you can expand the one open outlet there is by the night stand). ||On the positive, the beds were fine / comfortable. Room was clean & did have the tiny fridge & cable TV as advertised. Plenty of coffee & tea in your room to make. The free breakfast started at a good time (6 a.m.), whereas some places don't start until 7 a.m. on the weekends, causing you to miss when you have to be on the road early. (such as for a race)

The pull out sofa was not clean and carpet behind sofa was filthy. Curtains were well worn. The hot tub and pool was operating under temperature. The staff was embarrassed with the limited blankets and linens available. You can see the strain the staff is enduring. We have been coming to the Wautoma Borders for the last 10 years and I must say the room care is deteriorating the last few years.
