Blue Ruby at Grice-Fearing House Bed and Breakfast - Bed & breakfast in Elizabeth City - 200 S Road St, USA

My husband and I stayed at this terrific B&B during a recent visit to Elizabeth City. From the minute we walked in until the time of our departure we were treated like "family". Patrick, our host, was accommodating and friendly. Our rooms were extremely clean and inviting. The breakfasts were tasty and made to perfection. An extra perk was meeting the resident fur baby, Lacey. I would highly recommend this be the place to stay if you are visiting this area....you will not be disappointed. If I could rate with more stars I would. We've already booked our next stay. Thanks to Patrick and Lacey for a great visit to your beautiful B&B!!!!

We stayed at Blue Ruby for 2 nights while visiting family in EC for Thanksgiving. Have been before when it was Grice Fearing house but this is a totally different vibe. Patrick is a wonderful innkeeper and all of our requests were met with a smile. It's a very relaxed, quiet and friendly atmosphere. I love Patrick's style for decorating! The breakfast is made to order and was delicious! Close to everything downtown. Reasonable prices! Very dog friendly!! Lacey is a sweetheart greeter and gets 5 stars!!! Will be back!

My husband and I stayed 5 nights while visiting family. The house was originally built in 1798, and is the oldest home in the Historic district in Elizabeth City. Patrick, our host, along with Lacey his dog, made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfasts he prepared for us every morning were fantastic. Definitely, my favorite was his French Toast! We stayed in the first floor master suite which was very comfortable with a large sitting room, bedroom, walk-in closet and large ensuite bathroom. The house itself is beautifully decorated. We highly recommend staying here. We will definitely stay here again!

This is now our second stay at Blue Ruby. The first in July and now again in Dec. 2023.|Patrick has made his B&B absolutely marvelous and welcoming.|The house during the current visit has been decorated with a tasteful and mature Holiday theme.|We and our Boston Terrier dog have always felt welcomed in the house as well as most venues in Elizabeth City.|Our room on the first floor of the B&B was incredible. It is attractively decorated, has a very comfortable king-sized bed, a sitting room and a bathroom that is larger than some hotel rooms we have stayed in the past.|Upon arrival there is a sheet that lists the possible choices for breakfast including beverages such as juice/coffee/tea. There is a very wide range of selections possible plus a preferred time we wish to be served it in the dinning room the next morning. We have never been disappointed with any of the selections we have choose.|Without reservation this is a must stop for a stay if in the area or if not, maybe a change of route would be appropriate in order to stay there.

We had a wonderful time at the Blue Ruby. Room was spacious, bed comfy, and the bath towels large and soft. Great downtown location, quiet and easy walk to local restaurants, shops and waterfront. Patrick is a gracious and warm host, and he truly loves inviting guests to his Bed and Breakfast. His side kick Lacy is adorable and loves attention. Breakfast is delicious and the selection is wonderful. We will definitely stay here again on future travels.

The Blue Ruby is a wonderful experience, not just a place to stay. It is charming from the moment you walk in, relaxing while having a glass of wine on the porch, and immaculate for a good night's sleep. Breakfast is hot and delicious with great conversation! It is conveniently located for a walk through town by the river. I couldn't ask for a better experience, and highly recommend Blue Ruby.

This was a great overnight stay in Elizabeth City. I arrived early and Patrick kindly accommodated me. I stayed in one of the two upper bedrooms. Room was spacious and comfortable and had access to an upstairs porch. It’s neat to stay in such an old house with plank wood floors and years of character. Suite was spacious, bed was comfortable, and restroom was updated. Patrick was great giving dining suggestions… Elizabeth City is so walkable and it didn’t hurt having perfect weather. There is private parking behind the house and breakfast was good and made to order. I would stay here again.

Patrick was a great host, and the food was absolutely delicious. The location was great, and our room was clean and very spacious. It was close to breweries, coffee shops and local shopping. The price was great, and we will return for sure.
