Blocksi - Featured Reviews (122)
Honestly this just sucks, the extension abuses it's power. It even can track your device inside your own home. It got so bad that it even started blocking perfectly fine things like Google Classroom and HMH Ed
There's no point in giving students accounts just to limit and watch their every move
Thank god my school's admin removed this permanently
I see a lot of people hate this for the invasion of privacy but I want to touch on the dog water code that it uses and slows your computer down to something from the 1900s. It is installed on your school account so when I open my school account on my PC it slows that down too, I went from 13 Gb of ram usage just having my browser open (no programs) with my school account to just 4 Gb when I closed it, these idiot programers have to optimize their stupid code. Anyway I agree with all the other students.
i understand using the tool during school hours, but teachers and staff shouldn't be able to see my computer at home. it's an invasion of privacy.
I understand why blocksi is needed during school hours, but seriously, 24 hours is overkill, we need to have our privacy, and you cannot put this up all the time because its just cruel. Who gives a secondary student a laptop just to limit and watch their every move? Please just disable this
Interesting product if you dive into it. Can be a good tool for a teacher, or a good tool for limiting students/kids to what they shouldn't have the access.
Here's a picture I've taken at Bett conference in London
As a student, I personally don't mind the monitoring aspect. Seeing how I and other students would use non-educational websites, directly before this era of internet surveillance, I understand a teacher's worry. However, Blocksi seems to be an all-or-nothing program. I've had many struggles with research papers, with a simple research website flagged as "Entertainment" or "Shopping". In the middle of my school year, I completely stopped using my school Chromebook for papers and instead relied on my personal laptop.
I understand many teachers are frustrated with this program as well. It blocks students past the allocated times, which interrupts class. It can be difficult to complete assignments with as many blocked websites as there are. It's not an easy program to learn to use.
For students, many who are under constant surveillance and filtering of content may be more likely to willingly expose themselves to harmful content online once "freed" from programs such as Blocksi. As an alternative, in-school education about online safety and responsibility should be taught. From a young age, especially with as many "iPad kids" as there are, kids need to be taught both in-school and at home.
Blocksi, while an amazing idea in theory and intention, just isn't the right program. Maybe with some tweaks in the system to fix the mass-blocking issue, it could be operable. Unfortunately, due to how cheap this system is, many schools will continue to use this for years to come with no fixes or changes to the system.

Wish there was a zero star rating, this app blocks almost every website even if it's something educational. It creates a limit for student's creativity and makes them go only so far. Not to mention that teachers can spy on your chromebook using this app and I always get in trouble. Students need privacy too!!!!!11111
lol ignore the reveiws its all a bunch of students mad that unblocked games got banned I was fine with it since its actually really easy to bypass so uh I guess im also saying it sucks
Training at Palo Alto Fit has been a wonderful experience for me, and I owe a lot of that to my trainer, Jason! I was intimidated by the gym at first, but Jason's encouraging attitude helped me feel more comfortable.
