The Inn Bliss was an outstanding choice of lodging. We had the house to ourselves and were able to lounge in the living room, use the kitchen, and visit on the front porch. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious. Parking was available on the street, right in front of the house. We did not have breakfast included, but look forward to that another time.
We stayed at Inn Bliss for just one night in August. It was our one night honeymoon (since we have a 10 month old daughter, we couldn't get away for too many nights). ||||The day started with a fabulous massage when we first arrived. I had thought the massage would have been in the our bedroom to be more romantic. It was in the living room. However, the entire house was vacant so I can't complain! The housekeepers were using cleaning products right outside of the room that the massage was in, so that was a bit distracting. There was no spa like music. I recommend some spa oils and music for the next massage at the Inn Bliss.||||Our cable did not work in our room. However, when we contacted Nick he had informed us to use the living room television which had working cable. This ended up being fine for us since we had the whole inn to ourselves. I would rather keep the nightly rate/costs down by just having cable in the living room anyways!||||The Nelle Suite was adorable, and the entire house was kept very very clean! The bed was super comfy as well!||||Breakfast in the morning was wonderfully delicious! I wish I had known ahead of time that breakfast was at the sister inn, which was about a mile away. In hindsight, I would recommend calling Nick to book a room instead of using the website, so you know exactly which inn the room is at, where breakfast is served, and the distance from downtown. I wish we stayed at the sister inn (Architect's Inn), because it was GORGEOUS! But I cannot complain because we still had a wonderful time at Bliss Inn, it was just a bit odd since not a single other person was there including the owners!||||Thank you Nick!
I’ve rented at the owner’s other house, Architect’s Inn, and enjoyed every minute of it. This time, a few friends and I wanted to have a mini vacation in Newport so we decided we would try Inn Bliss. What a treat! There’s nothing like staying in a historic house that’s been well-maintained. It was lovely and eclectic in style, yet it felt like home. The rooms were very comfortable when relaxing. The owner made sure we knew the latest on restaurants and attractions which was very helpful. Everything about this house and this trip was “bliss”!
The Inn Bliss is a very comfortable old property within easy walking distance of all the attractions in Newport. Nick is a good host, except we did not see a lot of him, but the information he gave us and was contained in the instruction booklet were all that we needed. We chose the non breakfast option which was fine, there are lots of places to eat close by. This was the only place that we stayed during our trip that did not have en suite bathroom, but as we were the only people on our floor it did not concern us and the bathroom was very good.
I rented this house with friends all of whom are young professionals having rented prior homes without problems or disappointments in the past. The location of this "inn" is fantastic however we were let down by the cleanliness of the home- there were several trash bags from prior renters upon our arrival. Even if they had left that same day, cleaning service is paid for by the renters and should have been seen to that this was taken care of prior to our arrival, not a great first impression. The hot tub as promised was broken, it is not okay to make a judgment that it was a hot week and we wouldn't want to use it anyway- do I not want to take a hot shower in the summer....? As these owners are asking not be judged please do not do the same of your renters. The Inn states that there are private baths for the rooms, that is not the case and should be stated clearly for incoming renters. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with showers/baths. The configuration of the rooms can be decided by the renter only if you are renting the whole place, other wise you may be sharing with a stranger. There were not enough towels for the amount of people the owner knew he would have. The convertible rooms "suites" offer a futon and a pullout respectably not additional actual beds. There is no door between the sitting areas and bedrooms of the "suites" which whether was mis-communication or mis-guidance, this should be clearly noted so that the next renters understand that there is essentially others sleeping in the room with you. Access to the iron means- one iron for the whole house. We are extremely clean of not neurotically clean- even wiping down the entire fridge up on our arrival as the last renters had left copious amounts of sticky half opened and half eaten food. The owners may want to look into a different cleaning service- or one at all, as I know we paid for one.
I stayed at Inn Bliss for a wedding with some friends over the week of July 4th and I have to say that while we enjoyed the town of Newport, we felt mislead about the house overall. It was NOT made clear in advance that the "living areas" are actually just small rooms off of the main rooms that do not have doors (by the way, there is no door to the upstairs bathroom either so I hope you are comfortable with your co-renters!) It was disappointing that this was not made clear, as we were travelling with numerous couples who would have liked to have some privacy. There was trash from the previous tenant before we arrived. Call me crazy but when a guest is paying good money to rent a home, I feel it is the owner's responsibility to get rid of the previous tenant's trash, ESPECIALLY if it is a holiday week and the trash pickup was cancelled!
We were told that the house had a hot tub which was one of the appealing factors to our group. The hot tub indeed did not work. The owner's excuse was that it was "beach weather" so who needs a hot tub anyway. Yeah that is totally irrelevant to me. if you advertise something as appealing as a hot tub, we should have been informed it wasn't working. And for the record, a hot tub would have been wonderful at night, when we were not at the beach. But I digress.
The owner accused us of breaking some mirror, which we did not do, and which he admitted could have been done by the previous tenants.
The owners also complained that we "used the wrong dishware and left them in the wrong places"- apparently certain plates were not to be used? Um, you run a bed and breakfast where people stay and cook for themselves- if you don't want people to use something I suggest not leaving it in the house where we are living for a week!
Finally, be warned that you are not given extra towels so I recommend bringing your own. We stayed for almost a week and when we asked the owners if we could get fresh towels he snidely directed us to a laundromat. Is it too much to ask to request an extra couple of towels? Are you expected to do your own laundry at a hotel?
I have never once stayed at a place that asked me to scrub down the counters, sweep the floor, strip the beds, run the dishwasher, etc. Um then why did we pay a $300 cleaning fee? We certainly cleaned up as best as we could but frankly with the money we spent on this place we shouldn't have had to do the housekeeper's job. While we loved the town of Newport, we did not appreciate how the owners treated us. We are a nice, respectful group of people and I guess I was just surprised that this was less of a hotel or B&B experience and more of a do-it-yourself type place. We were in town for a good friend's wedding and were busy with wedding festivities all week, the last thing we wanted to worry about was cleaning and doing laundry on our vacation!
We rented the Inn Bliss for a girl's weekend in August. Nick was very accommodating to our arrival time, as most of our party could not arrive until later in the evening. Each one of us had our own bed, which was nicely made up with sheets, pillow cases and blankets! We also each had a towel set to use for the weekend. We didn't have to pack any linens- it was great! The entire house has AC, which was a pleasant surprise upon our arrival. It definitely made sleeping very comfortable! The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, dishware, etc- everything you could ever need is provided! ||||Upon arrival, Nick showed two of us around the entire house. He made sure we knew how everything worked. He even sat with us and explained a map of the area, suggesting things to do and places to go for the weekend. There was even a plate of home made chocolate chip cookies upon arrival :) ||||There was an issue with the mail delivery and Nick receiving my check. Long story short, my check got lost in the mail, and Nick even covered the $30 stop fee I was charged from my bank! ||||Nick was accessible by phone the entire weekend. We happened to blow a fuse. I texted Nick, and he responded quickly telling me how to fix the problem. Power was restored!||||Thanks for a great weekend!!
I rented this place as a full house over the 4th of July and our group was very disappointed with they way these owners handled several situations.||||I found Nick's manner before we arrived, while we were there and after our stay to be curt, snarky, and all around rude. When we got there the hot tub was broken and there was a mountain of trash outside the house from the guests before us (which was never cleaned up the 4.5 days we were there - so smelly!) The grill was also very dirty, and we spent 30 minutes cleaning before we could use it. When I asked for a marginal refund for the out of use hot tub ($100 out of the $3,700 we paid) he wrote me back that the problem was "totally out of his control" and "it was more beach weather anyway so maybe it was for the best". ||||Additionally, after asking for the $100 refund, he came back with ridiculous allegations that we did not leave the house in proper order, and that we broke something in his living room. (Totally not true! I was flabbergasted at these allegations!) What's funny is before I asked for the small refund, he returned our full security deposit and asked us to return next summer - so clearly the manner in which we left the house was okay with him. I had sent him another email about this but he never responded back. Not very professional!||||There is no washing machine in the house and the bathrooms have bad ventilation so towels don't dry. He said he'd supply us with towels, but would not give us fresh ones in he 4.5 days we were there. He told us to go use a laundromat. ||||There was also an issue with the way the 'semi-private' rooms were originally described to us. Potential guests beware: the semi-private rooms are INSIDE two of the bedrooms. This was deceiving, and when I mentioned this to Nick, he denied any responsibility.
