Blackthorne Resort - Resort hotel in East Durham - 348 Sunside Rd, USA

Recently spent a weekend here with my gym for a kickboxing event, we had almost 40 people so it was a large group. Patti and her people were above & beyond accommodating! Super friendly staff. Food was fantastic! Nice big pool area that was clean and fun. Several bars to hang out at (I didn't drink myself but heard the drinks were good & cheap). Family-friendly and safe; I brought my 2 year old and she was not bored at all. Rooms were clean, decent size, bathroom was also a good size. Wifi in the rooms and on the grounds was spotty at best, but worked fine in the main building. Very cool place, lots of things to see and do.

I came here with my gym, Evolutionary Sports to hold a kickboxing event. And we were treated with friendliness and respect. Plus the food was awesome. The location is the most unique place I've ever been. Definitely will return one day

Great place to stay. The staff is so friendly and always helpful with any questions you might have. Food is really good and price for drinks are not bad at all. TBH the only downside is that they are cash only, but they have ATM around the place. Rooms are nice and cozy like old style but clean and comfortable. Pool area in nice and clean with a bar right there. They also have a nice playground for kids.

We bought a group of 37 people from our kick boxing gym Evolutionary Sports in Rhode Island. This was our first time here and we originally requested rooms for 60 last year. Patti was very sweet and gracious even though I know we were less than expected. I cannot say enough about the beautiful people who own and run this campground resort! To be treated with kindness, respect, accommodation, and smiles when you arrive, during, and when you leave makes this gem campground resort extra special! It is a family/ close friend run resort and let me just say that the food was AMAZING!!! The wait staff, (Nicole, Alison) bartenders (Marissa), desk ladies, Iona (I did not get everyone's name) were all so so sweet! Patti is honestly one of the sweetest and a wonderful soul! Some people you meet in life and immediately connect with.. she IS one of those people! Such a beautiful person! She has a special genuine personality that welcomes you and makes you feel like you have known her forever! This resort was so so accommodating! They were up at 5am with us and brought us the best snacks during our 6 hour kickboxing Titans / Blackbelt testing! (I love frozen grapes my FAVORITE & the sweetest watermelon I have had all season)!|I messed up the menus for lunch and they were patient and forgiving even though I made it harder for them and even with my "flub up" (I know they might have asked who the dumb bird was that flubbed it all up ugh! Yikes) but even so they did an amazing job getting lunches (another special accommodation they did for us) at the TiKi bar and the burger I had was soooo good! The beds are comfortable! Are they 5 star beds? No.. but they are really really comfortable and this is the first year I did not have to be squished into a little bed with another person! We had our own beds! Woo hooo! I love my husband but it was really nice to starfish in my OWN bed! Hahaha! Lol! True story! The rooms were big! They all had a microwave, mini fridge, blow dryer and some had jacuzzis. All had great big rooms and were centrally located to everything! The guests at the pool who most are seasonal campers welcomed us with open arms! There is no clicks! We were welcomed! They were fun and invited our Evo group to the Congo line and cheered us on with our big blow up boxing gloves in the water fights! This resort is a diamond not only is the location in the Catskills beautiful with all the eclectic selfie opportunities and scenery it's All the little special touches that Roy and Dale and all who work their have incorporated (haunted house) that makes it extra cool! Roy told me he actually made (I thought it was from the makers camp! Many of the fun statues and centerpiece Art ! (Idk what do you call that great big cool robot!? lol!) I love the license plates and spaghetti wrestling area and all the picture opportunities! Mabel the pig, the ducks, the goats all so friendly! I hope next time we go back I see my Rhode Island license plates up with the other out of state plates! I have been hanging on to those all year with the only goal of bringing them back to be a part of their wall! They expired last August and I can't tell you how many times those plates have fallen from the shelf in my closet every time I move something around! ! I am so happy I actually remembered them! Lol! I could go on and on and on but I will end with this! What makes this wonderful place pretty Amazing is the family and faces who greet you and welcome you! Our first time visiting and I can't say enough about Blackthorne resort. It was fun as well as relaxing, not to mention the friendliness of the staff! Great management!! It was a wonderful experience! Always something to do. The pool was great! A hidden gem if you ask me. The food was delicious and we will definitely be going back! Thank you for making our experience an awesome one! Thank you for being dog friendly as well!

Myself and a friend met here for lunch. The food was fantastic. We both had a lobster roll which was filled with fresh lobster (it was a special) Everyone we talked to was very friendly. It's a large campground, you can bring your own camper or stay in one of their rooms. We'd go to lunch again sometime.

We had our family reunion at the Blachthorne Resort and could not be happier! 70 of us and everyone was happy. The staff, the rooms, the food and the facilities were all excellent! Patty runs everything in a professional and fun manner. Strongly recommend!!

Went to this gorgeous place with my kickboxing group, they went above and beyond helping us, providing excellent food and accommodations to our large group. Really love the property! Hope to go back next year
