Fun little stop while in the VA tech area. Attic and basement are not accessible to public so you get 2 floors. First floor has time period furnishings. Second floor is mostly workspace for board members but they were holding different history workshops while I walked through.
Great historical place to visit to learn more about slavery and Scotland's part in this regrettable explotation of black people.
Awesome porch space with informative signs/display/pamphlets inside. Also a gift shop with books and art from locals.
What a gem! Great preservation of history. Beautiful home and gardens!
Fascinating.. and the woodwork, staircase, tin ceilings, fireplaces and other details inside are breathtaking. The hall on the second story has a time line for the settlement of area that clearly explains the connections between Drapers Meadow, the Prestons and the Blacks - - and why this area was a geographic and historical nexus.
Good for a short trip. There are some art installations outside the house and a few indoors as well. The bedroom has interesting information about the family of Alexander Black, and overall I'm glad I stopped in. As of late 2017, the Alexander Black House/Museum is still raising funds to restore the upstairs and downstairs of the home. If you're familiar with the way Monticello is set up and expecting something similar, there's unfortunately only one room restored to that level of detail.
I love taking townies or out of town guests here to learn a little bit more about the historyof Blacksburg and surrounding areas. Sometimes the host tells us a little then let's us walk around but the guy that greeted us explained so much about the history of the area and even brought a bunch of maps out for us to see, I learned a lot!
Nicely restored historic building with exhibits, library, gift shop, and kids room. Free admission. Staff was friendly.

Dr Jordan is my family doctor for 20 years+. She is very thorough and takes her time. We think she and her staff are exceptional and are so glad to have such amazing medical care. She has literally saved the life of my husband over the last couple o
Iâve been here twice for movies and both times have had such an amazing experience! The lines are a bit long to get in, but once youâre in itâs a pretty straight shot to the theater. We spent $5 even in cash on a ticket each and then about $10
No atmosphere or facilities better in the state of Virginia for a college football game. Lots of parking around the stadium but reserved for boosters and whatnot for tailgating on game days. Several gates to enter and have installed metal detectors
We came for the cheese fries, we stayed for the burgers ððð After spending 4 hours up and down Dragon's Tooth, this place was the Perfect spot. I had the avocado ð¥ Chipotle burger. The avo was fresh and even the bun was well prepared.
Boy do I miss this farmer's market! I used to come every Saturday when I lived in Blacksburg, and loved all the products vendors were selling there. It is such a nice market, and even the much bigger ones I have near me now will never compare!
Very nice place. Picturesque golf course is challenging but not overly difficult. Restaurant has nice options and the goat cheese hamburger was excellent!
Have gone to Sugar Magnolia plenty of times for their ice cream. It is also sooo GOOD! Went this last time to the gift shop. Always loved looking in there. Had just what I was looking for as a birthday gift for my husband. Only downside is I had my b
