Ranger was very helpful in explaining CG rules, hiking trails, and safety. CG facilities and campsites were clean and well-maintained. I like the easy access to multiple hiking trails.
Wide choice of trails to take. Very kind and helpful staff. Camping areas near the main building. Decent spacing in between campsites. There is a ledger to sign at the top of High Point trail. It is not difficult to get there, but can be very gusty. Very panoramic views from the top.
i don’t recommend coming out of your way, but if you’re staying at the campground, this is an awesome gift shop to grab a souvenir! i didn’t see the “nature center” portion, so i don’t know if it exists, or if i just didn’t look hard enough? but it was a much nicer Joshua Tree gift shop than the other three park visitor centers, because it was 100% less crowded! just not the friendliest workers.
Always a beautiful trip. The stars alone make you fall in love with Joshua tree and Black Rock is our go to camping spot. Easy to find and there’s always good phone reception 😋
We had 4 nights at the campsite. It was pretty chilly and mostly deserted and yet there was only 1 site available when we booked. The toilets were far away from our site. The ground very rutted and we were concerned at first about negotiating the entry to our site. The so called Nature Center was nothing more that a small NP shop and a small art exhibit. I would not drive up here specially to visit. We have camped at many NP sites and this one is low on the totem pole.
Small but nice nature centre. Trail head for a number of nice hikes in the area.
Great center, nice gift, and book selection. Very interesting and helpful woman ranger
Next time I'm in town, I will be back and will explore her suggestions for dining and experiencing beaver tail cactus prepared right!
Very nice camping park! They kept everything clean and picked up. Highly recommend staying here. We stayed in a tent and had a great time!

We went to the final concert of the year and absolutely loved it. My only complaint is I didnât know about it sooner. Looking forward to going back in 2021.
I stopped here today (5/13/23) to let my Bichon poodle stretch her legs and go potty. It was beautiful. A nice breeze was blowing, snowy peaks in the distance, grass was green, the small trees provided shade, it felt safe, there was water, what mor
Second time in the area. Just beautiful. Many trail options from the campground or the parking area. Plenty of maps posted. It's free as well if you are on a budget and still want the Joshua tree hiking experience. Google maps works while you are on
The view is great! They have a dog park and also a small playground. The people there were friendly. I joined a local disc golf club sometimes we throw discs out there. It should be a permanent spot there's so much more this park has to offer! I saw
I had my meal delivered and ordered the grilled chicken kabobs. I have no complaints about the food. I've never tried anything like this, so I have nothing to compare it to. But it's definitely good. That cucumber salad they serve with the kabobs is
Breakfast was great. Pancakes are huge. Loved that they added a lot of gravy for the biscuits. I will come back again for breakfast when I'm in the area.
