I trail run here regularly, and it’s never repetitive or boring with the seasons changing. It’s one of the most beautiful places to visit in the autumn or winter because of the fall foliage and snow cover. For trail running, it’s the perfect mix of flats and hills, depending on if you stick to the outside perimeter trails or venture inward. There’s a main 5k Strava loop I created that begins at the parking lot on the south side near the bathrooms (that are closed when it’s cold by the way). There’s a clockwise and counter-clockwise loop that is nearly 1.5 miles on each side of the park (crossing over the pedestrian bridge as a connector). But there are also more trails inward (especially on the south side with more hills), so definitely venture off the beaten path! Overall, it’s a great park with fun trails, but it can get a little busy during peak times.
Beautiful hiking trails and picnic areas here. There are two main sections, the south loop along the river (~1 mile) and the north loop in the woods (~2-3 miles) The restrooms are maintained and clean when seasonally open. The diversity of trees make it beautiful during the fall colors.
Small but very well maintained wilderness park, with forest and river access. Dog friendly. I wish the quarry wasn’t just over the river, it is very noisy.
Definitely my Favorite Park in the Quad Cities, Absolutely Beautiful in All Four Seasons but Autumn Time is when Mother Nature really Out Does Herself.
Absolutely beautiful park! Very peaceful and you will stumble upon wildlife as you hike. Rich with history too!
Love the trails in the fall. Great place for family activity ❤️
Black Hawk Forest is a beautiful park with a lot of really great trails to walk. The lodge is really cool to walk to through the woods and then you can continue down the hill to be brought out to a cabin and a small lake. The views are gorgeous and you wouldn’t believe you’re in the midwest. There is also a campground and i think a boat ramp somewhere around there. My friend and i walked the trails and there’s a very cool bridge on one of the trails in the middle of the park. Highly recommend checking out this park. You won’t be disappointed.
My absolute favorite place for a walk! The trails are nicely kept and not too difficult, and there is a lot of interesting wildlife and plant life here to see! The museum is also really interesting, you should definitely check it out to learn about Native American history.
Amazing green space along the Mississippi River. The space includes a small playground for children. There is also a great band shell which is used throughout the summer. Well tended flower gardens add a splash of color throughout the park!
I love going to this brewery. Great beers, great bartenders and great music. Iâve only been here a few times, but I think the usual playlist is metal/hard rock, which I love and rarely hear at a brewery. The beers taste fantastic and could be the b
