We visited there in a group of 5 and ordered different foods from the menu; so we can share. Good food, big portion size. I ordered sweet cream pancake with eggs and chicken sausages. I loved it the most!! Highly recommended!!! Vegetarian omelettes are also good. Hash browns were a bit over-fried though, but didn’t taste bad. And the view of Mt. Shasta while dining was the best!! The waitress was super friendly and served us really good!!
Drove from Seattle to SoCal on my way back from a work trip and I just had to stop at the first Black Bear Diner. It was snow season and it was the perfect pit stop for a hot meal. The service was great as usual. The dining room was somewhat smaller than some of their other locations but warm and welcoming. I had a steak dinner with soup and a cornbread muffin, which was soft and delicious (kinda wish I had ordered some to go). Highly recommend you stop by to enjoy a delicious meal if you find yourself nearby.
Great diner. Fast, friendly service. Huge portions at reasonable prices. If You like American breakfast and lunches, you’ll like this place.
We were looking for a quick dinner before sleeping in early while we were in Shasta and found out the original Black bear was close by. It unfortunately didn't turn out to be quick as getting a table and later the food took a long time. The food though was pretty good for us. We had a Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs with a Huckleberry Lemonade and a Crispy Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap. The Fried Steak and the gravy were great and the biscuits were also fresh. The wrap was pretty good as well, and the fries were fresh and crispy. The place itself needs a little cleanup, it's noticeably dusty with cobwebs and the furniture is a bit worn out. The food took a long time as the kitchen was overworked, but the staff were doing what they could. So if you're not in a hurry and don't mind waiting, the food is worth a try.
Located in the central section of the town of Mount Shasta. Good amount of parking in the back. Was seated and left for quite a long while before the waitress took our order. Food was worth the wait! Awesome! Even though it was not crowded we again had to wait and even ask to receive our check. Poor service kept me from giving a five star rating.
Fantastic service, our waiter was so nice. Ordered burgers, mimosas, and coffee. The mimosas came with fresh sqeezed orange juice, and the food was fire af.
Super nice waitress, quick service, great sense of humor and good plentiful food. Recommend!
My family and I stopped by Black Bear Diner in Mt Shasta on our vacation in the Mt Shasta area. We had the absolute best experience ever. The staff was so friendly, our server Sage was so awesome and the food was fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend a trip to Black Bear Diner if you're ever in the area.
My new favorite place in the world. Thousands of rocks, minerals, meteorites and mystical treasures to explore. The owner is amazing and knows where everything comes from.
Mt. Shasta is Stunning. The drive from Redding to Mt. Shasta is a beast if youâre not a fan of steep, winding, fast roads but once you arrive the view is breathtaking. Only wish we could have stayed longer and hiked.

The Black Butte trail is one of the most spectacular hikes Iâve been on in the USA, especially if you consider how accessible it is from major population centers (I mean, compared to say the Grand Canyon, which is cool and all but more out of the w
I was blown away by this "little" museum. From the front, it looks so small. It was free and we had so many fun things to actually touch. My adult daughters were so happy to use the old typewriter and other gadgets. It had lots of kids items that w
Plenty of parking, easy walk down to the lake to set up at a spot. If you prefer to walk there is a trail that starts here and wraps around the lake. The loop is over 7 miles. I walked down and went to the left to start. Nice views and pretty shaded
The views are amazing! Throughout the route, there are lake views. Downloading the trail is recommended since it's little challenging to follow through the campgrounds and other places.
Lovely little spot with well spaced campsites. And views of Shasta right from the site. We went on a Sunday in October so it was pretty quiet. Not sure how it is on weekends and prime time summer. Great proximity to the mountain bike trails at Gatewa
