I had just finished a few things when I was hungry. I came here because it looked interesting. I was greeted and told to sit anywhere. I came in about 2p, so they weren't busy. They brought out these biscuits with butter that I think must be addictive. It had orange peel in it and was just so good. I got the grilled shrimp penne pasta with Alfredo and it was very good as well. But those biscuits with that butter! I will have to come back!
Our waitress was amazing. Let my wife borrow her jacket because she was cold. The biscuits were layer upon layer of flaky goodness that I piled butter on! We got each of the Sunday lunch specials. Personally we liked the pork just a little more but both were great. Will definitely make the two and a half hour trip again to eat there! Make a weekend of it!
The food was just ok. Laid back bar with a live band atmosphere. The steaks are better at Texas Roadhouse and half the price.
First time visiting this establishment .I ordered the catfish, season just right, loved the hush puppies. My waitress April was friendly, courteous and polite. Parking was the only issue but overall I will return on my next trip.
Such great food from a family run restaurant!!! Some of the best gumbo I’ve had. The food was super tasty and the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend eating there when in town
This place is part of the old Original downtown experience. I found the whole area quite quaint. The food here was great as well as the service and prices. A very enjoyable experience. Plan to spend some time walking around town. Most places were open till 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. even midweek my only thought is toward the city fathers as I think more street lights would be advisable, but there was no sign of any type of vagrancy after Dark. Just a lot of friendly people having a good time enjoying the Old Town. Hope to go again soon.
Had the grilled shrimp platter. No seasoning and the taste was extremely fishy. Had to drown it in catchup to be able to eat it. The service was great but the food suffers. Visited this place nearly a year ago and had the same experience with the food.
Enjoyed a drink here while sheltering from a rainstorm, and enjoyed a wonderful lunch the next day -- beignets with crawdad and mushroom sauce. Bar lady was very friendly, and I observed on Sunday that it appears to be a local favorite, not just a tourist spot.
