June is a great hostess. She knows so much about Newport, and her B&b is really special. We stayed in the third floor and loved the privacy. It is a traditional New England home so the third floor has sloped ceilings, but it didn't bother us. The shower is a bit tight and you need to bring your own shampoo. I liked staying away from the water and downtown because it was loud down there. The breakfast is simple and delicious and healthy.
My husband and I stayed here for a week. It is absolutely perfect--stylishly decorated with antiques, quiet, clean and in a beautiful residential neighborhood walkable to downtown Newport. There is an outdoor garden for sitting and relaxing. There are two floors only, so its very private and homey. what we liked about it is that it is small. The continental breakfast was just enough for us--fresh fruit, breads, hardboiled eggs, yogurt and the coffee is great! Our hostess was very accommodating. Perfect small B&B..
June is a wonderful person! She is a great hostess and is very knowledgable about the area. We stayed on the 3rd floor, which is very private. (Read the other reviews for the lay-out of the rooms.) The cottage is in a quieter part of town, which we liked. She rents two rooms, which are nice, clean, and simple. On the first floor there is a living room that is great for reading and a dining room for breakfast. Everything was so CLEAN! You can really tell that June tries her best with the accomodations and brings quality to her establishment. Breakfast is healthy- with yogurt or a hard boiled egg, a bread option, fruit, orange juice, and tea or coffee all served on beautiful blue and white china with linen napkins. She also has beach chairs and towels to take on your trip to the beach, which was so nice.
We stayed for 3 nights during the memorial holiday weekend and had a great time. The accommodation is very sweet and well kept. The host, June, was very welcoming, attentive and good at recommending places to visit. Breakfast was a great selection of cereal, fruit, breads and yogurts, which we couldn't fault. The cottage wasn't too close to the main harbour area, a good 20 minute walk, so it is located in nice quiet surroundings. We would most definitely stay again if we ever return to Newport.
Birdsong Cottage is a lovely little inn that is very well located - a close walk to Cliff Walk and Bellevue Avenue (Tennis Hall of Fame). Also not too far from the bustle of downtown.||||The cottage is very homey, with a lush and enchanting garden surrounding it. ||||We stayed in the Cottage Suite, a light and airy room on the top floor. The shower was large, and there were two sinks in different bathrooms - very convenient for getting ready in the morning!||||June was very nice and very helpful in getting us there. Our only complaint was that the breakfast was just average, but other than that, this was a very comfy and enjoyable stay!
We were celebrating our 5th anniversary and it was a our 2nd stay at BirdSong Cottage. Our stay was fr May 31st t-June 2nd. Price was right and in a quieter area of Newport. Very clean and quaint home with light and tasty breakfast. June, the inn keeper was great, givings us tips and restaurant suggestions and really took care of us. We actually had the whole place to ourselves. We stayed on the 3rd flr which is more private, simple no frills furnishings. 1 queen bed with two small bathrooms, one w/ a shower and sink. The other w/sink and toilet. Also we had a living room area with TV and french doors which led into the bedroom. Also note 3rd flr has sloped ceiling for those who are 6ft or taller. 2nd flr has two bedrooms which share 1 bathroom and a sitting room furnished. The 2nd floor had more of an antique feel to it. ||||Location was GREAT- 5 minute drive to Easton Beach-we happen to go there after 4pm and missed the $20 parking fee. June even loaned us her beach chairs. 15min walk to Thames st. and all the shops and restaurants. Would not suggest walking from home at night since the nearby streets are not well lit. We definitely will be returning!
My husband and I stayed last year. We were in town for a wedding. The inn keeper is just terrific and very accommodating. We felt as if we had our own private home. Nice location away from the touristy crowed areas but close to the mansions and beach.
Perfect place to stay in Newport. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Wes who was welcoming and informative about the Lodge and surrounding area. The bed was comfortable and the room was charming. Breakfast was delicious. Coffee, teas, and a v
Nicely crafted bracelets, love the fit and the clasp they use. Very durable. And love the designs! They were helpful and held a specific color and size for me when the new shipment came in. Conveniently on the last day of my trip! I did overhear a gi
This bed and breakfast is an absolute must stay in Newport. It's adorable, clean, and cozy. Walking distance to the beach and the bars, but far enough that you can sleep soundly. Serena, the inn keeper is the sweetest person you'll ever meet. She tru
