Birchwood Lodge is a lovely place to stay. We wanted to be close to downtown Camden and found the location to be ideal. Despite being close to the road, our room was quiet and we were pleased with the cleanliness of it. The gardens are really nice to see. The breakfast of scones, fruit and coffee or tea was adequate. We enjoyed talking to the owner about the area and things to do and see during a visit. We would definitely stay again if we are in the Camden area.

We stayed at Birchwood on our way further north and Maine and were pleasantly surprised with our time there. The rooms were quiet, and far set off Route 1 so we didn't hear much road noise. The rooms themselves were quite clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a really lovely treat with good coffee and some of the best scones I personally have ever had. It was a lighter fare; scones and fresh fruit, but it was the perfect light starter for the day. We hope to spend more time in Camden on our next trip, and when we do, we'll be staying at Birchwood again.

The Birchwood was amazing! I enjoyed everything about it from the small, quaint room to the fresh scones, fruit and organic coffee to the unique surroundings. The garden behind the hotel was lovely, as was the barn. Jenny, the owner, was great about making recommendations. There were even recycling bins in the rooms. Care was given to each detail. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

We had a quick turn-around work weekend and were looking for a reasonably priced place to sleep. Birchwood Lodge was certainly reasonably priced, and went further. The room was impeccably clean and comfortable, and very pleasant to stay in. The simple decor and clean lines really appealed to us, and added to the restful air. The Maine-made mattress and bedding were SO comfy, I had my best night sleep in awhile (seriously). There was a beautiful garden view from the bathroom, and I liked that this was a family-run small business, with owners who live on premises. I would definitely recommend Birchwood Lodge for a couple of people looking to be out and about most of the time, enjoying all the Midcoast has to offer, and I will certainly look to stay here again. The breakfast scones were the best I've ever had!

I have been staying at the Birchwood Lodge for 4 years while I attend the Camden Film Festival, and it's one of my favorite parts of the weekend. The rooms are immaculate, the bedding all cotton and the beds are so comfortable. It's quiet, the coffee and homemade scones are delicious. Not much else to say!

We have stayed at the Birchwood over a half dozen times now, and we will keep returning! Jenny & Eric are mindful hosts, with sustainability at the forefront and great hospitality alongside. They are always eager to support and share local recommendations. Rooms are quiet and peaceful, beds are very comfy and we love looking out on their gardens in the morning. Always happy return to the Birchwood!

We loved our stay at the Birchwood Lodge. Jenny and Eric were great. The rooms were clean and sitting on the porch looking at the beautiful view of the Penobscot Bay was spectacular. But my favorite thing was the amazing morning scones and the excellent coffee. I will definitely stay there for my next visit.

I stayed one night at the Riverhouse and it was a great experience. When I arrived I received a room upgrade and then I went to the pool. The pool was warm and clean (no harsh chlorine smell). Plus I had the pool to myself! There was no noise from th

Not my favorite ,not really a beach, no sand but, leash dog friendly and a great place to picnic. and what a view of the lake, hills and maidens cliff. Gets really crowded on hot days. Beware the bacteria count on those days.
