Anything on the biltmore estate is sure to wow its on lookers. The bass pond dam waterfall is a small but beautiful overflow waterfall that has been enjoyed for over a century. To sit below it is to step back in time where many others have sat before. A beautiful downhill walk from the house will get you there, but it's all up hill on the way back!
Trail to the waterfall was okay but comparing this man made waterfall to natural ones just isn’t possible. It was unbelievably hot in July! We came from Florida and didn’t expect it to be just as hot outside in North Carolina. I would visit the gardens before the waterfall if you have to pick between the two.
So beautiful and relaxing. My husband and I ended up sitting here and chatting for about an hour. It was so peaceful.
This place is romantic, scenic, and beautiful. I came here as part of my wedding and honeymoon vacation and it was sure a treat and such a highlight!!! If you are staying with anyone you love or simply want to cool off you find this magical place just past the bass pond in the gardens do follow the signs.
Amazing and beautiful place to see and take in. This land is incredible. I was blown away!
A longer walk than expected, but a nice cool spot to relax. More of a spillway than a waterfall. A little more gravel on the trail would also be nice.
A Hidden Gem of a sight for the estate This is located along the road about ¾ mile south when driving from the walled garden of the estate. The road is one way. The road follows around a pond so that the water is on your right-hand side of the road. The waterfall is just the spillway from the pond so you will see a bridge also on your right as you drive in the approved direction. There is no dedicated parking that I saw and many people just stopped along the side of the road and walked to the bridge. The bridge is just a stone affair across the top of the waterfall on one side of the path and the lake on the Biltmore Bass Pond. The daring can walk down a steep path to see the waterfall from the bottom. I thought it was well worth the stop and the view. It is a hidden gem that I am betting is often overlooked by people driving the estate. An extra part of this was a small path opposite the waterfall ( on the south side of the falls inside the bamboo forest). There was a small path through the forest to a quiet part of the stream. I thought this was a very nice place to stop and an easily overlooked sight for the estate. Enjoy!
It's a little anti-climatic. The grounds, however, are simply gorgeous. Beautiful species of trees, lake, mountain streams and hand crafted bridge rails.

Canât believe I just found this hidden gem not far off of Thompson Street! One of the few coffee shops open at 7 am with a variety of coffee/espresso based drinks, hot cocoa bar, and breakfast tacos. Got a dirty chai and egg/cheese burrito - both
