A very pretty garden just a walk away from the Main house The Biltmore estate is a tourist attraction in Asheville, NC. The estate includes a mansion, winery, stables, and a beautiful drive. Each of these is a treasure in its own right. You drive and park in one of the designated lots for each part of the estate. The house has at least two lots about a 5-minute walk or short bus ride to the entrance of the house. The gardens are to the south of the building and down a set of stairs. Please be careful as you walk into the gardens since one of the main roads leading from the parking lots to the rest of the estate grounds travels directly across the walking path at the top of the gardens. Within the walls are several areas showing off the various garden and flowers in a series of patterns within the large rectangular garden. At the southern end of the garden is a set of greenhouse type buildings highlighting some wonderful types of plants and displays of the houses from various organic materials. I very much liked the garden and the buildings and displays and think you will too. Enjoy.
Biltmore Blooms 2021:pics 1 to 10 Oct. 2021: pics 11 to 13 Biltmore became the first place where anyone had combined French and English landscape designs. The centerpiece of the gardens features a seasonal rotation of blooms, including 75,000 tulips, colorful summer annuals, and fall mums. A long arbor covered with grapevines runs down the center with themed areas, including a butterfly garden, white border, scented border, and Victorian border. The Walled Garden (upper), Hill of Snow July 14, 2022: pics 14 to 23. The variety of flowers and varied heights in the flower beds is new to Biltmore. We met a visitor who told us that she been an annual passholder since 1976. She visits once a month; and according to her, Biltmore has never had this kind of variety of perennials. Plus, the upper beds are full of blooming sun flowers and the hill of snow is in bloom.
Although the azaleas were not out yet it was a pleasant walk to the Bass pond and back. Lovely smells and bird sounds! The upper gardens had tulips!!!!
Incredible formal gardens with seasonal plantings, amazing shrubs & perennials. The tulip display just ended & now that area is planted with colorful snapdragons & sweet William. Grateful that I purchased the annual pass and can return frequently to see the new plantings as the season progresses. Leashed dogs welcome. General admission to Biltmore Estate or annual pass required.
The entry fee is rather expensive, yet completely worth it to see the entire house and grounds. Don't miss the walled garden and greenhouses. Most of the time seasonal flowers are blooming to greet you. BEAUTIFUL!!
The Conservatory and Walled Garden were my favorite area of the Biltmore. Spectacular gardens and so many different flowers, bushes, plants. Absolutely gorgeous.
Spring is definitely the best time, if you are just visiting the gardens. Summer and Fall are great to visit the entire grounds, so that gives you most of the year to enjoy the grounds around Biltmore. Great for a weekend stay, or just a one day visit or date. If you are also visiting the mansion or winery, then anytime is a great time at Biltmore.
