The hike (for me) was a nice experience with occasional breaks and snack and drinks you must take, and some doggies were along with some people, so petting one was therapeutic! one lady left strange tracks and she finally came back on a battery wheelchair like the guys go hunting with! it is owned by the park and the battery was low, so slower the last mile back, then the nice volunteers at the lighthouse told me she was on the beach with it for a while! we parked in the lot and walked thru the Pines Campground, then on the trail, 2 miles each way. I took all the photos I wanted of the signs and trail on the way, so the trip back was faster, about 65 minutes. a great October day with a few other people even a couple from South Carolina!
Had just over a mile walk down a paved trail to get to the lighthouse. Watched a short video and headed up the120 stairs in the circular staircase. The man at the top answered questions. Beautiful views from the top and walking around the grounds outside. Then the mile hike back...it was a good time!
Historic lighthouse and great beach! I actually like this beach better than the main Ludington State Park Beach. Clean water here when the state park beach had algae. This beach is not busy at all, as the only way to get here is to hike 2 mi from the main state park parking lot.
It's a 38 min hike so be prepared with little ones, and no shade so keep in mind for sunny days. It was well worth it though to see the lighthouse! It was so cool that they let you go to the top to get a 360 view, and had a very cute gift shop. Highly recommend if you're in the Ludington area.
If you are a maritime or Great lakes history about this is a must destination. Donors and volunteers spearheaded the drive to resurrect this historic site from vandalism and decay. The modest entry fee supports their efforts and takes you to the top of the tower and into the museum. Take some time to watch the video about its history. The mile access road is Dusty and open to the Sun. I would suggest riding your bike rather than walking. There is an outhouse and a snack shop to purchase snacks. The beach is beautiful and secluded.
Beautiful! 3.1 mile walk from the parking but it is worth it. We took a beachside route while going towards it and it was fun walking by the lake. Lighthouse itself is well maintained. Has entry fees. Nice little introductory video about the history and importance of artifacts helps. Walking up the stairs is a task in itself but it’s fun! From the top one get a nice panoramic view of lake and beach. Volunteers/employees were so nice and they made the experience great…
We did not do the walk to lighthouse it was raining and didn’t want to do the 2miles. Love the building at the park we did go inside and looked at all the exhibits very nice. Worth checking out especially with kids
Very cool landmark. Excellent history/mini tour, if you choose. Climb to the top - the view is amazing, and an associate will take your picture!

This was exactly what I was looking for. Visiting my old high school area and family with no internet makes getting my computer related work hard to do while visiting Ludington. I needed a place to enjoy a beverage while having space to check my comp
Love this place, I've never got the chance to camp here but I have spent some days here. Love the hiking here. Beautiful scenery. Family-friendly trails. They have kayaks to rent at the main part of the park.
A great playground for kids young and old(er). Multiple play areas with lots of slides and swings. We were visiting for the New Year's Eve event and needed something to do in the morning. This park entertained our kids for well over an hour and we on
Nice small park that's mainly just the beach. Parking is right next to the beach and the beach is very accessible. There are two porta potties at the parking lot. There is nothing else though. The park side of the beach connects to the Buttersville c
The fresh-caught Michigan fish is AMAZING!!! We tried them all: walleye, lake perch, and whitefish. My personal favorite was the walleye, but they were all delicious. The deep fried option was exceptional. Not at all greasy. Light and crispy. Outstan
We had heard good things about Qs. However, we were a bit nervous when we walked in at 5pm on a Friday to a completely empty restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly, and we ordered ribs, pork belly burnt ends, pulled pork, brisket, Mac n cheese,
Revised Review (4/28/22): This Motel has since changed owners. Reservations are much more expensive and include other fees such as booking and cleaning fees. Additionally, they offer limited cancellation flexibility. Very sad this gem has changed it
An awesome food truck at the US 10 spot in Ludddington. We came for dinner and saw they had food trucks so we stopped. Super cool that they have this. The dogs were cheap and delicious. All dogs are made to order which is great. The staff were re
