One of the best breakfasts I had. Lovely place open early for breakfast. Freshly made comfort food, everything was delicious! Friendly service. I ordered the Chipped Beef over Toast Points since I never had it before. All breakfast plates come with two sides, except the Breakfast Bowl. The side order of sausage was slightly spicy which I obviously loved it. The side order of Chicken Biscuit was made with real chicken tender, homemade biscuits was really good. Egg Benedict was on daily special. It served with sliced ham. My husband has Omelette. If you are in Urbana, make sure you give it a try.

If you're looking for an old fashioned home town restaurant, this is it! Sausage gravy and biscuits, grits. They have it all and it looks delicious. If you're a vegetarian or especially a vegan, your choices are very limited. We had breakfast and met with friends. Food was good though our order did seem to take some time despite the fact that they were not busy. The staff was friendly and young and seemed more interested in their phones than watching over their tables. We'd go back but would not make any special efforts to go.

Very attractive and relaxing atmosphere, very welcoming. The food is very good and there is too much of it: of course this would not be a problem if one could stop eating! Open until 2 PM for lunch, reopens at 5 PM for dinner. Crabcake is large and very plausible; it is served with one side, a variety of which are available. There are a number of seafood items available, several shrimp preparations and several scallop preparations, all of which sound very appetizing. During my visit the dining area was comfortably full, mostly of senior citizens as I am. Beer and wine are available, but so is water, iced tea, lemonade and coffee. Desserts disappear rapidly, perhaps well before 2 PM—just a suggestion! I did not see the dinner menu, but the photographs of rare roast beef from other reviewers suggest that Big Oak Cafe may be one of the last great resorts for a massive old-style dinner. At lunch the speedy and efficient DeeDee H was my server, and I had my food—and two glasses of water—almost before I realized I had given her my order! As she was serving the entire room, I’m not sure how she does it! But I was certainly impressed! Parking is in the rear, and there is a certain up-hill-ness to gaining the dining room, but everyone finds the effort worthwhile. Perhaps our willingness to adventure is what keeps us all so young!—Or maybe it’s JUST GOOD FOOD!

I grew up here! This was a old country store! So I stopped by to check it out...it was lovely 🤩. I had breakfast and I really enjoyed it. The hash browns potato's were hot, crispy, and crunchy what lot's of flavor, and mixed seasonal fruit bowl. Also, I had a BLT sandwich with a fried egg and usually I have to add something... but I don't. I Took the leftovers home and had it for lunch 😁. I will definitely be back! A definitely positive trip down memory lane... thanks Big Oak Cafe!

Was driving back from vacation and needed some food to hold me over for the last half of our trip. I really liked the food and the portion was perfect. I was able to eat it all and not be over filled. Fair price for what I got and was able to feed all 4 of us. I will likely make my way to this little place on another visit from my parents house.

If you are in the Urbanna area, this place is a must stop for great food! Family & locally owned, charming atmosphere, wonderful specials & great portions of American food with a Southern inflection. Homemade yummy desserts. Check the hours to be sure they are open, but you are sure to have a satisfying experience and feel happy and full when you leave! This is my "go to", especially for breakfast, and she started a Snow Crab Leg / Steak night on Tuesdays for supper that I hope will stick around forever! I believe Mondays are half priced burgers, which are juicy and delicious, and I think Thursdays are half priced appetizers. The owner DeeDee is professional and truly cares about her customers and community! And no, I'm not related to her, haha! I truly love going to Big Oak Cafe to eat!

Very nice hometown eatery. Met up with an old friend for breakfast. Both had French Toast. I will return. Good coffee. Good grits.

Coffee shop

Quiet little shop, excellent for breakfast. Know in advance that it won't be super quick because much of the food is fresh, as ordered. But it is SO worth the wait! The staff very clearly wanted to make us happy and feel at home.
