This place is fantastic. I went to see the meteor shower and sunrise. There were quite a few people there, including a couple who got engaged successfully, another couple who came for their honeymoon in advance, a group of students, people walking raccoons, and those who came to witness the sunrise. The wind was really strong, but I managed to capture many good photos as well. The wind is indeed quite strong, so remember to keep warm.

Big Mountain Overlook is on Tower Road, not far off of Route 30, and connects to Cowan's Gap. Maps available at entrance. Listen to the tower video, and you can hear the sound waves. We parked at the tower, walked the half circle loop to the overlook, and then walked the trail back to the tower. The trail at the tower only looks like a grassy road around the tower, but splits in two. The left trail takes you to the overlook in about a half mile, but the right takes you to extended trails. There are some very rocky sections, so be careful of snakes. Highly recommend hiking boots instead of sneakers for ankle support. Some people park along the loop circle by the overlook, but you need to be careful of that. There are no amenities, so bring a drink to stay hydrated if you walk far. I bring a refillable insulated thermos that holds either a hot or cold drink and attaches either to a small cross shoulder bag, a belt loop, or a backback. Keeps the hands free. Enjoy your hiking adventures!

Why to see the view last day of peak foliage. It was absolutely amazing. This is a must see stop. Nearby towns have everything ya need, and there's state park camping nearby.

Amazing views that you can drive to. No hiking required!! It’s a short five mile hike from Cowans Gap State Park if you’d rather.

I first saw Big Mountain Overlook on YouTube and we were planning a trip from Michigan to Pennsylvania to go to Flight 93 memorial and Gettysburg so we stopped. Videos and pictures don't do this place justice. It was amazing to look out and see the valleys from the top of the mountain even though it was raining. I'd have to say this is one of the most beautiful views I have seen. I'm looking forward to coming back again the next time I'm in Pennsylvania

Alright well this is officially my favorite vista in all of PA, and I have been to quite a few now. It's seriously stunning lol. I sat here for a few hours, ate lunch, and just took in the view and the fall weather. It was literally perfect. I'll definitely be returning to the area for some of the parks and hiking nearby, but this spot alone is worth the drive from Philly.

It’s beautiful. I drove to there instead of hiking it. But if you’re a hiker. I would recommend hiking to it. At any rate it’s beautiful
