Big Frank's Sausage - Polish restaurant in East Chicago - 918 Carroll St, USA

An old friend of mine knew I was in Hammond for the day and recommended I stop in here. I’m glad I did or I’d have missed out on some of the best Polish food I’ve ever had. It’s a hidden gem of a spot and I so recommend stopping in if you’re in the Region. I went with a sampler platter and got 2 whole meals out of it, the potato pancake is huge and so are the galumpki. I drank a cosmo with it, which was also beyond delightful. Def check them out!

A staple to the local area! Best pierogi's in NWI. Also had wings, potato pancakes, and cabbage noodles. Everything tastes amazing here. They do not disappoint. Service is great and highly recommend to grab a bite from here.

Good Service and Good Food. Nice little Mom & Pop shop to have some home made Polish Food and a have nice cold beer. I'll definitely be coming back.

We decided to get our Christmas Eve fare from Big Franks and simply loved it. My son is crazy for pierogi's so we started with the sampler, added two fresh sausages, and tried something new for us called Barlinek. It was just perfect for our feast with chopped cabbage, noodles, sliced sausage all in a creamy mushroom sauce.. we loved it so much we went back for our New Years eve dinner, and added a Zakopane plate so we could try one of their golabki..OMG, the thing was huge and definitely enough for two..plus you get a sausage, kraut, and two delicious potato pancakes.. definitely a winner for us , we'll be back soon for more.. .

The atmosphere inside is very polish vibes, which is awesome! I tried this place for the first time (other than at Pierogi Fest), and they definitely did not disappoint! I ordered a turkey sandwich and cheese curds. Husband had his own order. At first glance, the sandwich looked okay, but the smell was amazing! The first bite was so flavorful that I had to open up my sandwich and see where this amazing taste is coming from! All I saw was toasted bread, warm turkey, and melted cheese, but it tasted like heaven! It was also a big portion, so I only ate half of the sandwich since it already felt like I ate a pound of turkey! The cheese curds. Again, the first bite made my eyes roll back, literally. Would love to try this place out again!

Service was great. Old school locals only kind of feeling. Perogies were good, Italian beef was just ok, not great. Fries were fresh cut but seems like they only do a single cook on them so they were a bit soggy. They need to pre blanch them. I'll go back and try the sausage next time.

Wife went absolutely nuts over the food here 10/10 would highly recommend the Kolaczkis taste just like great grandma used to make

We accidentally found this place and are glad we did. Super friendly service, spectacular food and affordable. The pierogi sampler for $6 was a steal, "see pic" all six different and all six were unbelievably delicious. We'll be back
