Big Cedar Lodge - Hotel in Ridgedale - 190 Top of the Rock Rd, USA

Our plan. Great dinner. Nice cabin with a fire and relax for an evening. Snow happened. They closed Top of the Rock day before our arrival upon learning this we tried to change our reservation dates. Nope told whether we show up or not we will be charged. We slid in. Food options devils pool and buzzard bar. Buzzard bars heat was not working. Employees in full winter coats hats gloves. It was so cold. Not an option should have been closed. Devils pool. Prime rib not good. First time in my life I left steak on a plate. Served on Raw root vegetables. Sides were cold green beans and mashed potatoes consistency of boxed. Not good. Sad Employees had to work in such conditions. Sad when the major options are closed there's no option for guests to reschedule. Sad this is our last visit to Big Cedar. If you read the Owners responses to All criticism it discounts the concerns and offers no resolution. This is why our entire family will no longer consider Big Cedar an option.

Arrived at Big Cedar Lodge today! . ~ We are so lucky to be able to come here ❤️. Johnny Morris is a true visionary. If you have an opportunity to visit one of his “dreams” you absolutely should. We already have a short stay booked again in March. I truly believe this is a little slice of heaven on earth. To add to the excitement of escaping the cold of home, a quick getaway ~ we started the day in the Buzzard Bar with some locals as well as travelers like ourselves at the bar enjoying a favorite of the restaurant Brisket Nachos, an AFC win by the KC chiefs ( we are going to the Super Bowl again) and ended with a caramel gooey butter carrot cake that delicious doesn’t begin to do it justice. We went back to our cabin, built a fire, stayed up past midnight and reveled once again how lucky we were to be nestled in Big Cedar Lodge once again. ❤️

Overall, good, welcoming staff and attractive facility. However, room not ready at usual time of check in and couldn't get the desk to commit to a time or get my keys at four so had to hang out for about an hour. When I made the reservation a month or so ago due to a promotional rate, I asked if they did still had resort fees and was told they didn't. Total seemed high, given rate quoted, but went ahead anyway (sloppy on my part, I know). Cabin we were booked into was very cute and loved having a real fireplace. Also enjoyed the Buzzard Bar (it's where we went to kill time waiting for our room to be ready). Christmas decorations for the property were still up and lovely at night. Enjoyed our stay overall and left just as a big snowstorm hit. Got the bill emailed and there was a 30$ resort fee per night. Also there is a pretty restrictive cancellation fee policy so just be aware that the price initially seen is not going to be the price charged and that pretty soon after the reservation is made you'll be on the hook for a sizable amount.

Property is gorgeous. But, we wanted forever to get checked in. There were four registers and only one lady working. Then, we wanted to do the golf cart ride at Top of the Rock. The girl there said we were too late to do it, as it was 4:12PM and the last one was at 4. So, we called for the shuttle to take us back to our room. After waiting for 25 min or so, one of the girls asked what we were waiting for and we told her we were too late for the golf cart ride. She said, “Oh no, I can sign you in right now, the other girl was wrong”. I did not bring a jacket and by this time, it was too cool to do it. So we didn’t get to do the ride. It was the main reason we came. Meal at Osage was good, not great. And our room at the lodge was vastly overpriced for what we got.

Wow, wow and wow!! I'm just absolutely blown away by this stunning resort. Our family had decided to spend the Christmas holidays here and I'm so glad we did. We are still here for a few more days and we are already thinking about our next visit. We had booked the 2 bedroom cabin which is absolutely gorgeous. Beautifully decorated and what is more capturing is the Christmas tree inside. The cabin is spacious with 2 bedrooms with king size beds in both. 2 bathrooms, a full size kitchen with everything you need in it, a living room and a nice deck overlooking the resort with a BBQ. I highly recommend using the shuttle as it makes it more easier to get around on the resort. The Chapel, gym, spa restaurants and so much more is located on the resort. Since we are here for Christmas, "EVERYTHING" is Christmassy around here and we love it. Thank you big Cedar for the refreshments and snacks that were in our cabin upon arrival. It definitely was a nice added touch. Merry Christmas and thank you for helping us make lasting memories. we can't wait to be back!!

We stayed in a cabin in the winter. Nice country vibe! Fireplace (might avoid a cabin if you have asthma). A great get-away for relaxation & solitude, or if you want fun and excitement, that’s within driving distance!

Big Cedar deserves. 10 stars. You won’t find another place with the excellent guest service like this place. Been coming for years, and tonight showed me why this is our favorite vacation spot. We needed some bottled water for our baby’s formula, and even late at night they gave us 2 complimentary bottles of water. Very kid friendly, and great atmosphere. The attention to detail and putting the guests first is always their main priority. We will be continuing to come for years in the future!

This is our second year staying at Big Cedar around the holidays and we plan on coming back every year!! Not only is the property breathtaking, but the customer service cannot be beat! They were having to do some repairs right beside our room and they not only upgraded our room, but also gave us a gift certificate for any restaurant on the property to make up for the inconvenience! Abby at the front desk was absolutely wonderful and took care of everything for us even moving our luggage so we could enjoy our day! We enjoyed the one of a kind spa, where they work tirelessly to make it the most relaxing experience of your life! The grotto is something that must be experienced! Golf at Top of the Rock is one of our favorite courses to play! The views of Table Rock Lake combined with beautiful stone formations make you want to stay out there all day! We will recommend to everyone this amazing place!!
