Big Boy - American restaurant in Alpena - 400 S Ripley Blvd, USA

I was extremely disappointed with my recent visit to this restaurant. Despite the empty setting, the state of the floor was appalling. Not only was it visibly dirty, but there was a concerning red substance near our table that the hostess seemingly ignored. The overall cleanliness suggested a lack of maintenance for weeks. As someone with serving experience, I expected better standards. The bathroom was also far from satisfactory. Regrettably, I won't be returning.

First time at this location. Will go back. The whole experience was very good. Got in, seated, drinks and ordered within 15 minutes. Wow! They were busy, but our order was served up quickly, warm and correct. And it WAS GREAT! Had a Big Boy combo...just like the old days. Yum! Prices a bit higher than I expected...but soooo worth it!

Flies in the dirty windows, food on the floor, spoiled coleslaw and burt soup on the salad bar. I ordered the philly cheese steak and they brought me a chopped up hamburger on a sub bun with onion & cheese. I would have given our server a higher rating but he didn't come back after dropping off our food, came back when we were ready to leave.

This place has really gone down hill to the bottom. The Slim Jim I ordered was so small that I thought it was a joke. It was literally a quarter of the size of a standard slim Jim, with the tiniest piece of ham on each side, one slice of pickle on each side, and absolutely burnt to a crisp. It was inedible and they made it and still served it. It must be the new norm. I did not eat it and they kept it on the bill. Our hamburger wasn't served on a bun. The service took so long despite the place being empty at 5pm on a Saturday. Really sad we lost this option in a town with already so few offerings. Just terrible.

Very disappointed in service and food we never had a bad experience there until today we order the broccoli cheese soup it was cold order burger and fries that was good but no silverware and no napkins had to keep ask our server for stuff usually when you get a meal you get some kinda silverware spend almost $36.00 be awhile before we come back

One of the best Big Boys I have ever been to! They seemed kind of busy, but our food came quick. Food was made very well and with care. Friendly staff all over the restaurant. Floors where clean, once costumers left a table, a staff member was right on top of getting it cleaned before new costumers came in. Will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

Worst Slim Jim I’ve ever had, and it’s their staple sandwich. Very disappointing, it wasn’t even warm when it got to the table. Fries were stale. Waited what felt to be too long in an empty restaurant, only to be told the slow service was because the kitchen was busy with carry out orders. Won’t be returning to this location, and I would recommend literally anything else in Alpena. Oh, and all the lights in their parking lot were out. Not a huge deal, but as a woman I felt uncomfortable walking to my vehicle alone.

Ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich and it wasn't sliced steak like the menu said. It was bunched up hamburger. Also ordered an appetizer of onion rings. It only had 7 small rings that they said they didn't make themselves. The waitress was nice and got more onion rings and took the sandwich off the bill, but the management needs work!
