Best Western White Mountain Inn - Hotel in Franconia - 87 Wallace Hill Rd, USA

Comfortable and clean overnight stay to break up a long drive to Canada. This is a no-frills hotel with a complementary breakfast. Room was very basic but also very clean and staff very helpful and friendly. There were no places where you could hang out and there is nothing directly around the hotel. But if you were looking for a good night sleep right off the highway I highly recommend. Littleton is about 10 minutes away and has several dining options.

Newly renovated....but with shoddy workmanship. Room was newly renovated, but half of bathroom vanity was cut away, toilet barely flushed and shower doors wouldn't stay closed. Shower itself leaked so much water crept out under the bathroom door. Paint jobs in rooms were laughable. Anyone ever hear of masking tape? Room itself was very clean. Pool was clean, enjoyable and fun and at the perfect temperature. Breakfast was adequate for a free hotel meal -- but eggs had the texture of sand and potatoes were undercooked.

This place is currently undergoing refurbishment. You have to walk through the work zone to get to the elevator for 2nd floor rooms. The pool is large! They have good breakfast options. Front desk clerk was attentive when we had questions. Should be a much nicer place when refurbishment is complete.

The rooms are pretty dated. The paint work is a joke. The AC seems to be malfunctioning. It was raining when we got there and for the whole night we slept with wet blankets, it appeared that the AC was unable to control the high humidity. The rooms and bathrooms are otherwise unclean, there were strands of hairs everywhere. Carpet looks it hasn’t been deep-cleaned in ages.We were not happy with the cleanliness nor the humidity. The location is otherwise nice, it is not far from Littleton, NH, Franconia Notch, Flume Gorge, and the White Mountains region. But beware there is nothing around the hotel.

I don’t normally do reviews but this experience irked me. We were super excited to visit this location. I travel a lot for work and always had great experiences with Best Western. When booking through the app, the date got changed to the day I was booking it (yesterday) instead of the day I was searching (today). When I went to go check in from the app it showed the date error. I tried calling twice, no response. Called best western and they tried contacting them and again no response. We took a gamble and drove 20 mins from where we got food hoping they could work with me, I’m a Diamond elite member and never had this happen before and never missed a booking. He said they called (an hour after I booked) to see if I was coming. I showed him my phone log and voicemails where nothing was found. He was less then sympathetic even though there was miscommunication on both sides and was rude after I asked if there was anything they could do and essentially told me I was lying when I said they didn’t call. The parking lot was virtually empty, we might have dodged a bullet. I love to support smaller towns when traveling and this is the first time I have had no attempt to meet me in the middle or be understanding of my situation, especially since they could see it was booked well after their normal check in. Instead of booking another night we went down the road to Stonybrook Inn and they were much more welcoming and polite.

The toilet seat was broken and they said they had "repaired it" but it was was still broken for the duration of our stay. They could have given me a new toilet seat and I would have repaired it myself in 2 minutes. The room was dirty with fresh stains on the carpet. There was chipped paint in many spots in our room. The ac/heater was so loud we had to turn it off at night in order to fall asleep but then the room became so warm that we had trouble sleeping. Plus there was a ton of noise throughout the halls and floor above us during the night so we barely slept. The pool had a ton of junk floating in it like it had not been routinely cleaned. There was construction going on in one wing of the Hotel so there was equipment all around the outside of the Hotel and there were workers pouring buckets of liquid out of the window towards the parking lot. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to others until they complete renovations.

This would be the 820th review of this hotel according to your stats. We say it is way better than some of your critics on Trip Advisor claim. We found the room and facilities to be quite adequate, and a 'good value' in what can be a high priced vacation area. The only reason for less than a 5 star rating was that carpet vacuuming could be improved (halls, entrance, less so in rooms) and some more staffing is needed. My impression is that the hotel is understaffed. The staff we encountered was courteous and helpful but the overall circumstance (cleanliness, carpets, breakfast area, trash removal, etc.) is just understaffed. Not atrocious -- just needs manpower. ||Now let's talk about the specific horror stories in other reviews that almost caused us to stay somewhere else: 1) Bugs: Bull crap. These beds were VERY clean no signs of any kind of vermin anywhere. 2) Stains and spills and blood on the walls = BULL CRAP. Our room and all the areas we saw in the building were devoid of any such issues. Clean, well maintained. 3) Non-Functioning devices: Nonsense. Our microwave and fridge and TV all worked well. I've seen much worse in higher priced places. 4) Odors: no nasty odors in our 4 nights there. NONE. 5) Heat: worked very well. Enjoyably simple to operate , responsive to our settings and reasonably quiet. Example: at very first arrival I had misinterpreted the labeling on the heat controls (label above versus label below a button). The front desk lady was there almost before I hung up the phone, showed me how to use the controls and made sure all was well before leaving. ||Finally, this is an older facility showing its' age in some ways, not the very latest flashy decor, but not at all substandard, not deficient, not 'run-down' by any stretch. Our room (2 queens) may be some kind of exception BUT it was clean, everything in it worked well, the shower and toilet facilities were great, nothing broken, nothing missing, nothing obnoxious in any way. I say it is a very good value. We were there 4 nights.
