Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island - Featured Reviews (475)
This hotel had its pros and cons. Pro was that it was a short walk to the ferry landing, shops, restaurants, and a beach area for the kids to swim at. We were upgraded to a 2 room suite, which was nice to have extra space for the 5 of us. The rooms were clean but dated and the carpet looked pretty old worn. Beds were fairly comfortable and the bathroom was nice but really small for an 2 room suite. |Unfortunately the room was right next to the main road that comes into Coronado so it was extremely noisy. The room fans weren’t loud enough to hide the noise, unfortunately. |Breakfast was ok. A decent variety but not as good as other Best Western locations and although it was a crammed area to get food, there was a nice place outside to sit and eat. Be forewarned that breakfast ends at 9am M-F, which we weren’t aware of and were disappointed to miss (I’ve never been to a hotel that ends breakfast before 10). |It has a pool but it’s more of a soaking pool than one to swim and play in. It only gets 3.5feet deep so our kids were unimpressed. But, again, the beach was within walking distance so they swam there! |Overall it was decent stay. If we stay here again I’ve learned what to request to make our stay more peaceful, and to wake everyone up earlier for breakfast!!
This was a real treat to stay on Coronado Island. We had a two room suite which was perfect. Both rooms very clean, as was the bathroom. The sitting room had a little kitchenette which was very welcome, besides a microwave and fridge, and a Keurig machine. What was really nice, is that there are french doors between the two rooms, and once closed there is no noise from the ice machine or other guests walking along the corridors. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, with nice linen. Convenient to have parking under the building too. The only concern was, people off the street can just walk in to the premises to the rooms - I feel there should be some sort of security gate that only guests can access. |The breakfasts were good - four choices of hot breakfasts, with vegetables, which me being a vegetarian was appreciated. The usual cereals, yoghurts, cream cheese, jams, fruit, bagels, bread etc was plentiful. The two ladies in charge of the breakfast room were very friendly and accommodating. |The staff in the reception were very helpful in giving us advice about transport as we did not want to use our car. Highly recommended hotel.
This Best Western location lives up to its name and is a shining example of excellent accommodation.
With a pleasant staff, clean rooms, an excellent layout, somewhat adequate pool, our stay was well worth the price. The morning breakfast was also a "plus" with a good spread of available items. Breakfast availability is always an underappreciated perk that many travelers may overlook.
Parking is available underground, but do be aware a large SUV or Van is not welcome.
In a beautiful Saturday afternoon of July, my daughter and grandson invited us to spend a wonderful weekend on Coronado Island. Having rested a long while before sunset, we parked car at Tolita Avenue, walked down Hotel Del and enjoyed viewing breathtaking beach sunset. Having a complementary breakfast next day, we played with grandson in the swimming pool. While watching my wife, daughter and grandson playing, I enjoyed taking bath in the whirlpool. After checking out, in order to avoid parking fee, we left car in Hotel garages and walked down to Ferry Landing terminal. We rented a 1 Bench Surrey and taking a spectacular ride along the Golf Course to the Hotel Del on bike paths and bike lanes. We headed back on the end of bike lane and finished a wonderful two hours ride.”
We love to walk when in Coronado, don't rent a car, but this hotel isn't very close to the beach. Staff did let us know there is a free shuttle during the summer & summer concerts the park. Staff was great! Hotel room price is affordable, bonus is the free breakfast.
Worst hotel experience in a long time. The location is wonderful and really that is all this hotel has to offer. The rooms are cramped. The bathroom was tiny and in an odd place in the room. The beds covered the plugs (which you need to even plug in the lights they provide) and anything they or you plug in would get bent to hell, because of you move the bed to plug in the lights and chargers, the cleaners would move the beds back and break the plugs.
The second to last night we were there, our air conditioning began to smell like it was burning. It was night and our kids were asleep, so we turned it off and the front told us they would have someone come look the next day. We received no communication about it the next day and called down and were told they weren't sure if maintenance came. We turned the AC back on and the burning smell came back. We had one night left, so instead of switching rooms we were told they could compensate us for the issues of no AC and a broken plug on my charging station. When we checked out, we were informed the manager would come and give us a 25% discount. Come to find out a few hours later, we were given a 10% discount on a single day...for terrible 2 nights of sleep without AC and a damaged item. Called in and was told that the AC was working fine. Um....we didn't say it wasn't cooling, we said after it was on for a while it started to burn. So they refused to accommodate us for the time without AC.
Icing on the cake was the breakfast was gross. Eggs, bacon, and sausage are a simple thing to offer and instead they offered odd vegetable options (I know asparagus, broccoli, and cauliflower are just what I want for breakfast) and weird meat mushes. We ended up just going out to eat.
The pool was also tiny. Only 3 feet deep and you couldn't have too many people in at a time to enjoy it. Walking distance to the ferry and the bay was really the only benefit here. We would never go back.
Couldn't ask for a better place to spend while visiting Coronado Island. Clean cozy and close to walking distance to everything. Friendly staff good breakfast. Very nice room.
If you at all handicap or need assistance from the front desk don't waste your money here. If you beed additional cleaning don't bother the hotel room had a heavy smell of cologne and there are only two handicap spaces available even though they have more than 2 handicap rooms. They only allow one car for parking and make NO EXCEPTIONS!! So if you are traveling or rent a golf cart you are out of luck. They have no chargers or space for a golf cart even though all the other hotels do have them. It is a very popular way to get around the island. ||The front desk clerks are rude and not at all interested in your stay! ||Even corporate doesn't care about your stay. There are lots more great options on the island!!

Big, beautiful beaches. Lots of restaurants and shops. Was here just before Christmas so a lot of lights and decorations were up and there was an outdoor skating rink at the Hotel Coronado. What an amazing place that is. Hope to come back again soon.
