Best Western Plus Stephenville Inn - Hotel in Stephenville - 121 S Lockhart Rd, USA

We have stayed here multiple times over the last several years while our daughter is attending Tarleton. Usually this is our first choice to stay but will no longer be after this last trip. The hotel seems to be falling a bit into disrepair and appears to be understaffed. It took 10 minutes for someone to show up to check us in after ringing the bell and calling the front desk and we only saw a person at the front desk one time during our 3 night stay. There are obvious signs of damage in the one working elevator (the other one never worked) and in the dining room that aren't being repaired. The pool was cloudy with dead bugs and debris floating in the water and sitting on the bottom. The poolside restrooms were locked and the towels were the size of hand towels. The food was not very good and they no longer have a variety of items for breakfast. On our way to check-out we ran into another guest who had been trying for two days to get ice. He went to all floors and was unable to find any. The room itself was clean and the bed comfortable so we were happy about that. I hope these issues can be addressed because we've always enjoyed staying here.

I love staying at Best Western hotels since they are always nice. This one was no exception. The room was clean and comfortable AND the staff was friendly. I didn't eat the free breakfast as there was a chick fil a close by and I wanted that instead but they do offer a free breakfast. I took off a point since I had to wait for a room to be cleared at check in and it was 4 pm. Well after check in time. Apparently I had booked an accessible room and someone was still in the one I booked so they had to find me another one. But the guy was super nice about it and it honestly didn't take that long so I would stay again.

If I could give less than a star I would. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. When we walked into the lobby the smell of mold and mildew was very prevalent. Once we got into the room we had sheets that looked dirty. They were torn and coming apart. When we started to get ready for bed we then saw a cockroach the size of a half dollar run across the floor. It was at this time that we decided to leave. There was no one who was able to make a decision and would not respond back to us for 6 days. Just to tell us there was nothing they could do for us. I will never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone else.

Hotel has good location. But everything else was not good at all. Room was not clean at all, sheets were dingy and looked like they weren’t changed in between guests. Room renovations weren’t finished and wood was exposed and rotten. And so much more was unacceptable for the price of the hotel and the extra I had to pay for earlier check in. That was unheard of to me. Only one elevator worked and the one that worked sounded like it was going to break down as well. It was a convenient stay and definitely not a great stay. I was ready to run out of there the next day.

A mini family getaway. Upon check in I waited 5 minutes for someone to come to the lobby from the back to even greet me. The guy was very sarcastic and it seemed like we needed to call guest services for everything. We had a 2 queen suit room with the let out couch. There were no towels in the bathroom. We had to go down to the first floor because none of the ice machines worked except for that one. After the first night we were going down for breakfast and put the sign up to clean the room and left for the day to go to the dinosaur park and came back and nothing was cleaned. Contacted guest services again . We had keep reprogramming the remotes and kept having to turn the ac on and off when we left so it didn’t freeze up. The only thing good about the breakfast was the waffles. The apple juice and orange juice tasted fermented and we ended up having to buy stomach medicine for the kids.

Worst Western Minus We stay in hotels almost every weekend traveling for events. I cannot believe we were charged almost $200, before taxes, a night for this hotel!! ! It is a shame. Not even worth $99 a night honestly. It’s gross. Only 1 Elevator worked. The elevator certificate for the only one working wasn’t even in the elevator. There was a paper saying it’s at the front desk. Never seen this before at a hotel. The elevator tiles were busted up. All the ice makers weren’t working. The one on the first floor acted like it would but didn’t. We had nothing in the closet of our room to fix the pull out bed. It was stained and gross. I had to go ask the sweet young lady at the front desk for sheets and pillows. She was the only one there and drowning so it took a long time to get pillows. We were exhausted and just wanted to go to sleep. Our door to our room wouldn’t close without a struggle. We had to lift it up and push hard on it to close and open it. A huge chunk of tile was busted in our room among other minor things. This hotel is not taken care of sadly. The 1st floor ladies bathroom smelled so disgusting. Another thing which bothered me is their doors didn’t lock at a certain hour and only Open with a room key card to enter. It’s safe and best to have the automatic doors only Open with a room key late at night. Especially when there’s a young lady working the front desk solo. The positives. Microwave and mini fridge in room. Shampoo/conditioner/wash in showers Little night light by the room door. 2 latches to lock room door. Air conditioner worked. But loud. Grace at the front desk was so nice and worked her tail off.

The hotel is decent and in a perfect location. The staff is also friendly. However, while I was in my first room a large roach went across the floor 😭😭 I immediately packed up and requested another room and had no problems. The second room had a smoke smell, and there was a dead bug under one of the beds!!!! and I was paranoid the entire night because I am terrified of bugs. I would not stay here again because of the roach and bug issues.

Customer service is top notch, employees are very friendly and kind. Rooms are spontaneously clean Breakfast was amazing loved the yogurt machine and the variety of toppings that are offered.
