This is a great hotel with a lot going for it...location (overlooking a huge sandy beach and fantastic ocean views), a really good onsite restaurant (Seaglass Bistro...see separate review) and an unusual, but functional physical layout (restaurant on level 1, lobby on level 2 and open parking lot on level 6).|I've stayed here twice in recent months, in June and in August. In June, the frigid wind whipping across the beach and blowing stinging sand meant the hardy souls who ventured out had miles of open beach to themselves. In August, the weather was warm, the winds mild and there were lots of families and energetic dogs on the beach. On both visits, there were intermittent rain squalls.|A previous reviewer was peeved about the windows not being kept clean. I saw the restaurant's windows being washed down each morning, but no one should expect the hotel to do the same every time the sand blows. I don't even know how they keep all the sand from invading the hotel. I know my boots were clogged with wet sand and I'm sure I left plenty in my room even though I tried not to do so.|If you live on a beach, you'll get sand in your shoes (and between your toes). |The six floors from parking lot to restaurant, with lobby and rooms in between meant a lot of people using the two guest elevators a lot...when they worked. No problem in June but they were off and on during my August visit. When they were out, guests had to share the much smaller service elevator with all the support staff, including housekeeping, engineers, deliveries, etc. I heard a lot of people confused about where to go, but never heard any serious complaints. And all the reception staff patiently and pleasantly answered everyone's repeated questions about what's wrong and when will it be fixed. |As nice as the hotel is, it's aging and, perhaps, the elevators are just one of those things that wears out. Those of us who have owned homes know the feeling. There are other signs of wear and tear, but overall it remains a very nice hotel.|I noticed on my first visit (king room) that the lighting in the bathroom was really dim. It would have been a bigger problem if my wife had been with me. I didn't have to deal with makeup. The lighting in my August bathroom (double queen room) was quite a bit better.|The room air conditioning system was easy to program and worked well, with the A/C in the outer wall blowing quite quietly. However, in my August room, the only easy chair in the room was positioned between the desk and the A/C and was not usable. I thought about moving it, but the only place I might have done so would have been away from any reading lights. During the day I used the ample light coming in the windows, put the rolling desk chair in front of the window and used the easy chair to put my feet upon. It worked out OK.|In spite of the many challenges I guess any day at the beach is a good day, for both hosts and guests. Of course, it's harder for the hosts. The guests leave, but the hotel's challenges remain.

This is a great hotel with a very friendly staff. They did a great job keeping the room clean. The hotel itself is moderately pricey, but the views are stunning and the easy beach access is the main draw. Because the hotel is attached to a separate restaurant, breakfast is not included which was a bit disappointing because it often is at other Best Westerns. The pool is not as shallow as other locations, so be careful with small children.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in while visiting family on the Oregon Coast. Fast friendly service, great food at Seaglass, and fur babies are welcome there. The rooms are clean and comfy. And the pool and hot tub were awesome! Thank you for a great experience

I’m a bit of a cheapskate, and this was our splurge hotel for the trip. I’m so glad we did it. We paid extra for an ocean view, and although you can’t sit on your balcony, you can open the door and smell and hear the ocean all night long. You can walk to the massive beach across the street and hunt for agates. You are next-door to the lighthouse that has tide pools if you go at the right time. They have wine in the lobby before dinner and the restaurant is surprisingly good. You can sit at the fire pit out back and gaze at the sunset or on the patio at the restaurant looking over the ocean. They have a decent pool, it has adult hours so you can relax after the kids are in bed. I have to admit, I hadn’t had amazing experiences with Best Western before this trip but now I’ve stayed at two in a row that were both really nice. Highly recommend!

Great place for what we needed. The beach access is just across the street. Each room either had a Mountain View or ocean view. Although the Mountain View wasn’t as impressive, each floor had a sitting area by the elevator overlooking the ocean. Staff was great!

We had an EXCELLENT stay recently. Front desk staff is A+!!! rooms were clean. Room service great. Restaurant in the hotel pricy but very good. Not really for kids. The beach access here is fantastic. It's a bit of a walk to the water but worth it. Will definitely stay again. We also appreciated the luggage carts which were plentiful.

I would stay here again just for the watee pressure in the shower. Super nice staff. Easy and convenient. My only suggestion is to put a mirror behind the desk or offer a stand up mirror. And the jaccuzi could use a paint job. Thanks for a great time

This hotel was amazing! I was vacationing in Newport with my 2 kids and we just adored everything about this hotel! The parking, the ocean view sitting areas on each floor next to elevators, the chess/puzzle area in the lobby, the beach access, the laundry facility, everything!! It all exceeded our expectations!!

It has that oregon coast vibe for sure. Bartenders were friendly and fun. Of coarse the beer was good but so were the cocktails. Afterward you can take with you some of the goods canned beers and seltzers as well as some great spirits.
