Best Budget Inn / Hi-Way Liquor - Motel in Owatonna - 1180 Frontage Rd W, USA

Well guy was nice untill check out. First the site and YouTube video I have seen is wrong about this place there is no coffee pot in room and no breakfast. The rooms do not look like the pictures it's extremely run down . There was a fist size hole in the carpet. Out let's were all lose and my bf got shocked every time he plugged some thing in. Not to mention one of the laps on the wall cord was basically hold together with tape. They apparently expect you to be house keeping too. Because before you leave they want you to clean the bathroom and toilet. Most places do that usually places just expect you to clean out the mini fridge and trash which we did. So at checkout I got charged two hundred dollars because I didn't clean well enough apparently. Then an hr later they turned around and charged my card again for hundred.

Well I did enjoy my first two stays here at 58 bucks a night. You sort of can’t beat that. The rooms smell clean look clean and very spacey. The owner doesn’t really speak much English so that was sort of hard to deal with but it was so able. Our 3rd stay here we had car problems and they were really nice about us being there fixing it. The fourth stay however we noticed roaches on the bathroom door killed them and went for a pizza came back and there were then roaches on the bed and one on the actual pillow. There was no way I could stay overnight in this room. At first we asked to be switched and I guess that wasn’t possible so I asked for a refund and that was also a issue. I was booking online for 58 bucks after tax. He wouldn’t let me book thru online anymore and was charging me a flat 75 bucks. I wasn’t impressed with that either. My hubby and I like to take little staycations every now n then and for the price this seemed to work until it didn’t. I wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone after the roaches and cost kept going up. They are also freakishly staring through lens and windows at you the whole time your there

Place has mold and bed bugs. Moved a pillow and one was crawling on the pillow. Stripped the bed and found several more and tons of bug poop. Grossed me out for life!! Man argued that he will get me a clean room- not a chance!! |

I had to stay the night in Owatonna on business and this place had the best price of those I checked ($55 total). The manager on duty / owner was very helpful and was nice enough to let me park my pickup and long trailer in his front parking lot. The place is not fancy. It IS located next to an Adult Superstore. There is some highway noise from I-35, but it wasn't anything that kept me awake. My room was clean and comfortable. The sheets on my bed were clean and I slept very well. There was a decent selection of cable channels and the wifi signal was strong and reliable all evening. It was nice having the fridge and microwave in the room. I left before the 7 a.m. start to breakfast so I can't comment on it. This is not a high end motel, but it's a very good place if you are looking for a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable price. I would stay here again without hesitation if I get back to the area. And as for the liquor store attached to the lobby...there have been many nights when I really wished that the motel I was checking into HAD a liquor store attached to it. It came in handy during my visit.

Please don’t let this review scare you. My wife and I had great time. One of those places that happen on trips that just turn out funny. Motel and liquor store combined and adult bookstore next door. Whodathukit!

I wouldn't never stay here again no hot water in the sink TV didn't work good and found a bunch of bed bugs here and the owner doesn't speak English good or understand you if i could give it a 0 rating I would ,1 plus only the bed was comfortable but nothing else was good

We couldn’t stay here. The liquor store and even the adult toy store didn’t bother us at all (we thought the liquor store would be a convenience in fact!), but when we walked into our ‘non-smoking’ room, it smelled like an ashtray. There were cigarette burns and stains on the bed spread. The carpet looked gross and was damp, and I wasn’t comfortable walking around barefoot. I didn’t even want to set any of my things down in the room because it was so dirty. The shower was dirty as well and the shower head sprayed in all different directions. The shower wall was very flimsy. We decided to get cleaned up, take all our stuff with us and not return. We used the shower here ONLY because we were pressed for time and had to get to an event quickly. If we’d had more time, we would left immediately, complained and tried to get our money back. I don’t recommend. No exaggeration, probably the worst hotel room I have ever been in. I would select zero stars if I could.
