These guys became openly anti-customer through the pandemic, I'll you judge by yourself: 1. closed the back bathroom 2. No water station 3. No bottled water to buy (!) 4. When asking for a cup of water "the city of Berkeley is forcing us to charge for them" (!!!) 5. "Sorry no WiFi" - So don't be fooled, this is not a coffee spot, this is merely an inconvenient seating area for the nearby Berkeley Bowl food counter (which is very good).
This cafe is a treasure. Breakfast till 11am!!
Their breakfast burrito comes with hash browns inside. Hash. Browns. Inside. And it’s only $7.
In case you’re still reading and not driving to this cafe, then grab your keys and go.
They have açaí bowls, Mochi muffins and donuts from Third Culture and the staff and amazing.
Always have excellent meat department! There’s tons of unfriendly people (not staff, just the local unfriendly Berkeley maskers) in the store so don’t expect to make any friends lol 😂 Just get your stuff and get out!
Also always beggars outside asking for handouts.
I love having my morning coffee at the BB West café. If you get the chance to meet Jeanette you ll start your day on a positive note :) Jeanette has always a great positive energy ! Bringing joy with her. She has this bright energy that wake you up in the morning and power you up !

Just so it is clear:THERE IS NO MORE BERKELEY BOWL CAFE! They still make coffee drinks there plus there are some pastries, like donuts, for sale, but the old (nice) cafe is gone, apparently forever. You can bring in pre-made food from the supermarket, but that's it. And the service, such as it is, is pretty surly. RIP, Berkeley Bowl West Cafe!
Coffe , breakfast sandwiches, donuts, differents pastries. Enough seats.you can you enjoy you food . Only thing no bathroom inside. You need to go upstairs.
I’m deeply saddened for what Covid has done to this place. I used to love coming here for lunch or breakfast on my trips visiting the local office. Stopping by this time I found the kitchen closed and has been since the start of the pandemic. I really hope they can bring the place back to what it was someday because there food was amazing.

Great place! Super friendly, Iâm always greeted with big smiles. The coffee is wonderful and the lattes are made perfectly. I work in downtown Berkeley and have gone to all the coffee shops in the area and this is by far the best.
