Benham Schoolhouse Inn - Inn in Benham - 100 Central Ave, USA

This unique find is worthy of 5 stars. The entire facility was super clean and comfortable. Our assigned room was a smaller room but boy what a view, esp. in October. The room was clean, comfortable and had all that we needed for an overnight stay. The king bed was soft and comfortable. We enjoyed walking around the inn and finding reading nooks and places to sit and enjoy the company of other guest. There is some information and items detailing the coal mining history, which was why we were in the area. While there, check out the coal mining history across the road and just a few miles past the inn, there is Portal 31 coal mine and a great coffee shop for breakfast and lunch if you desire more than a continental breakfast at the inn. As for the continental breakfast, the choices were plenty and consisted of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, prepackaged pastries, coffee, juices, and milk. We had plenty to choose from and satisfied our needs. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area.

We hosted our State Summer Meeting of the Democratic Women's Club at the Schoolhouse Inn this past weekend. I cannot thank Travis Warf and his excellent staff for such a great place to host an event! We had people from all over the state attend and they were so impressed with the historical site and the beauty of the area.|The food was amazing the entire time we were there, although the restaurant isn't open everyday, they can customize meals for your events. The buffet is open every other Sunday for everyone to go enjoy the food and atmosphere.|if you are looking for a unique place to host an event or just for a get away you don't have to look far. There are things to do just in Lynch or go to Harlan. The Coal Museum has 3 floors of unique items with a great tour guide. Portal 31, the mine tour is being remodeled but call to see if they have any openings before going. Don't forget to stop by the Backroads of Appalachia welcome Center to see all of the wondeful events they are hosting all over the state and take home a souvenir.|Such a small little corner of the Harlan County With Big things to do!

Loved our 7 day stay great spacious rooms and great views from rooms quite place to stay and very reasonable!! I definitely plan on coming back very soon!!

Stayed here during a deployment to help with flood relief in Whitesburg. My room was spotless and spacious with everything I needed, including a refrigerator and reliable Wifi! The bed was super comfortable, HVAC in good working order, and a ceiling fan. Plus, the people who work there (especially Theresa!) were so accommodating and helpful, which makes the stay ever better. They even let us use their laundry facilities! Honestly, I can't say enough nice things about this inn.

Always such a FANTASTIC inn to stay at in a quiet little town when I travel there for business for my company. It has that old time schoolhouse feeling with a Great roomy and relaxing feeling. The Inn Staff are very Courteous and helpful if you need anything, and I do love to enjoy their breakfasts . They also have a Sunday meal that is a very good one too, even though with my work schedules when I stay there, I have not been able to partake of it . But many others have made great compliments though about it. Am Definitely always going to patronize this Hotel/ Inn every time I am I there in that area! Fantastic place to stay at!

Stayed here on a motorcycle trip. What a great find. It as it says an old school. They still have the lockers in the hall way. Now if you are looking for a five hotel this is not your place. There is no pool and not a lot to choose for breakfast. If you are looking for a good clean room and friendly abd accommodating staff here's your place. It just really cool place to stay and think of the history here. Still can't say enough good things about the staff. We enjoyed our stay and if ever back in the area, we would stay again.
