This place is perfect. We loved the view out the back. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Beds were comfy. The owners are great. We talked to two families who have been staying there annually for decades. There is a great little ice cream and coffee spot just across from the main office. I would definitely stay here again. You can really tell the owners put so much love and care into the place.
Due to making reservations a bit late, we got to sample both the motel section and a cabin. Both were clean and comfortable. The extra room in the cabin was useful, as I won't leave my mountain bike outside unattended. Staff was nice. The very odd modern propane heater on the office porch was welcome as we sat there during the hailstorm; the woman in the office lit it just for us! The lack of AC (which few places in CH have) was only a problem during the bizarre Fall heat wave that enveloped CH during our first couple of days there. Definitely will stay here again!
We stayed three nights recently in this motel in the adorable town of Copper Harbor. We chose one of the lakefront rooms and ended up staying in room 24. These rooms afford beautiful views of Lake Superior and the harbor; however, I recommend trying for rooms 27-22 or so. The farther to the left you go, the less of a lake view you have. Some rooms on the end seemed to only have flower views from their rooms because of how the landscaping is set up. Each room has two chairs and a small table on the back balcony, though it is one long balcony and not individual ones. There's also a picnic table and two adirondacks out back that overlook the lake.||The actual accommodations were satisfactory. The room was fairly small but did have a microwave and mini fridge. The bed was too soft for my liking, but I understand that everyone has different preferences on mattress firmness. I would say the biggest downfall was the bathroom and shower. The bathroom is tiny with a small sink area that has hardly any counter space to keep anything. The shower was also very small and did not drain well at all - by the end of your shower, you had almost ankle-deep water in the tub with you. ||No cell service at all in town, but the hotel does offer WiFi and we were able to text and call via the WiFi. Also no A/C but in early Sept, it was already chilly there and we actually just needed the heat overnight!||Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this motel. I definitely recommend getting a lakefront view room if you stay here to take advantage of the amazing Lake Superior right from the comfort of your own room. It is also walking distance to most everything in town as the town is very small! Highly recommend grabbing afternoon coffee or ice cream from the little stand across the street called the Scream'n Bean. It's open 3-8. Also enjoyed walking to Jamsen's for coffee and pastries at breakfast.
We come back here every fall to explore Copper Harbor, and stay at the Bella Vista. The name says it all. The property is beautiful with gorgeous landscaping and views of the harbor. The owners also run a tour boat to see the harbor and the Copper Harbor Lighthouse. They have kayaks you can borrow if you are a guest at the motel.||Be aware there are no coffee makers in the rooms, but the hosts provide coffee on the porch outside the office every morning. Most restaurants are walkable, also (all of Copper Harbor is walkable!).||The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. They also have cabins on the property, which have recently been remodeled. Those seem quite popular.
You really can't beat the view out of the sliding back door, and they have chairs right outside if you want to sit and enjoy the flowers and water. The rooms are comfortable, and clean. There is a restaurant and a store that sells ice cream and gifts, and a little coffee/ice cream hut all within walking distance. Good ice cream too!! They have free coffee on the porch in the morning, and little fridges and microwaves in the rooms, so your all set!!
We stayed in cabin #3. No view of the water but what a great little space. Clean and comfortable. We booked about a half hour before we arrived as the weather turned and camping didn’t sound good. Staff was welcoming and very helpful. I would definitely recommend a stay.
The property itself is charming. The website accurately represents the exteriors and interiors, which not all businesses do. The red-painted facade makes a picturesque backdrop to the dock/ferry boat area and our room had a sweet sunrise/water view. The single level "lakefront" unit room we had (I think it was #19) was well kept, small, clean -- basic but charming with the knotty pine throughout. Frig and fan worked well. Sat outside a bit, dipped our toes in icy Lake Superior at the dock, and had an ice cream cone from the walk-up stand adjacent to the property. The town itself was tremendously overcrowded during the event that unfortunately collided with our stay -- The Copper Harbor Trails Fest. So many bicyclists and so many people in too small a space. I'd suggest an overnight or two-night-long stay...any longer might get uncomfortable with the space limitations. Check out was earlier than most properties. I agree with other reviewers that check-in was matter-of-fact.
This was the perfect cottage for our 50th anniversary! The fully equipped kitchen supplied us with everything we needed, and the cute red cottage was spotless! We could walk to the water and the main street, and the very congenial and accommodating owner's son took the two of us to a nearby island where we explored the lighthouse and keeper's quarters while he waited at the boat for us. It was a totally unhurried excursion. Highly recommend Bella Vista - we will be back!
It's a small parking area. But you'll enjoy a lovely winding scenic walk through the woods hiking up and down the landscape to reach the shoreline. It feels a bit longer than what the sign says it is so be prepared. The beach is mostly red rocks with
Great spot to look for Yooper rocks. The trails are quite bumpy with tree roots and rocks so you really have to pay attention! Easy to walk around once you are at the waters edge. We went to the right off the stairs. Parking was available and free. N
We have a summer home in Marquette. Over the years we have expanded our trips to the UP to include camping and waterfall visits. This was one of our first camping trips. Such a beautiful area. A bit hard to find as our GPS took us down a dirt road a
Such a cool and trendy gift store. We loved it and discovered discounted items to take home to remind us of our wonderful stay in Copper Harbor. Really nice and helpful employees.
We all had a wonderful meal. It's a higher end restaurant. The presentation, food and prices reflect that. You will get what you pay for. Gourmet food!
Great little hike! The old growth trees are spectacular. What a blessing that someone thought to save this area. Combined with a couple other short hikes to make a spectacular day.
Awesome little hike off the side of the road. If you start the hike at the sign and head down to the overlook, you can have a beautiful site of the falls. If you're more adventurous, then take the path to the right of the overlook, and you can walk u
We went up for fall colors and stayed in log cabins (heated but you can make your own fire). Breakfast is included and delicious! We purchased a picnic basket dinner and grilled our own burgers with some additional fixings! Staff and chef are super
