Great hike. So close to SLC. It's great to do all the hikes along the Wasatch Range while staying at the nearby Courtyard Cottonwood hotel that has a great pool and hot tub and is located at the mouth of the Big or Little Cottonwood Canyon. It's easy to make this hike as short or as long as you'd like and still see good views and some nature features.
A beautiful and quaint waterfall at the end of a moderately challenging hike. These falls run throughout the year, though the flow will be considerably stronger (and even dangerous) in the early months of runoff. The hike is steep and requires one to scramble up a trail of rocks and small boulders so be prepared and be very careful if there is ice or snow on the trail.
Gorgeous! Cute and decorated Christmas trees at the beginning of the trail. Snow spikes needed for grip. The waterfall is frozen for the most part.
It probably would've been a great hike if the trail wasn't covered in 2 feet of snow. Thr hike is sround 6 miles long out and back. The distance markers on the trail are super inaccurate. After the bridge, it said 0.9 more miles to go but we hike around 2 miles after that. The last stretch is super steep. It didn't seem that worth it to me since we had been hiking in slippery, slushy, deep snow but I want to try it again when there is no snow!
Just got done with this hike with my two kids. (7 and 5) the beginning seemed to be a bit more rocky than most mentioned, then it eased up and was an enjoyable hike.
What I wasn’t exactly prepared for was the last 100 or so yards being as steep and rocky as it was. In the end with some breaks we all made it and enjoyed lunch next to the falls.
On AllTrails it’s considered a Moderate hike, it was a good way to start off the hiking season with the kids and we enjoyed making some memories!
Making you aware of the fairly steep last 100 or so yards, with stops and time you can get there.
The other caveat I’ll throw in for anyone reading this and wanting to make the hike, when you get to the top and it’s levels out, you can go left and go down or right and stay up… I encourage you to go left and down to the base of the falls. Wishing I’d known this would have saved a bit of backtracking to loop around with the kids to get to the base. But next time I’ll be aware and anyone reading this hopefully will be too!
I did this hike the first week in February. I was expecting it to be hiking on a snow packed trail. It was instead a lot of melted snow, so lots of puddles and slush. I had my hiking sticks and spikes or Crampons on my shoes. I was so extremely grateful that I had those. People who did not were sliding all all over a slippery steep trail. The trail starts at the base of little cottonwood canyon. It walks up switchbacks until it gets to the reservoir. After about a mile up past that is when I started to think the trail got very pretty. The cliffs on the left were very impressive. Then it got steep climbing up a steep trail with lots of boulders and lots of pines on both sides. I thought it was beautiful, but those who were not wearing spikes were dealing with a really scary section. After that section the falls are only a little further. Of course they were beautiful and the snow all around them made it super scenic. Would happily do it again. If I do it again I might bring waterproof boots and slide my spikes over top of them. I had super waterproof Salmon shoes and my feet still got wet because there was just so much water.
The last little part of the hike gets a little steep, but if you keep going you'll find the falls. Our group was lucky enough to go on a day when we were the only ones there, and we had a gorgeous view. On one side you can see the falls, and on the other you can see the valley. I highly recommend this hike to anyone who wants a bit of a challenge when hiking.
Breathtaking, advanced hike. Take more water and food, wear nice hiking shoes, and bring your endurance, you may need it. The trail is easy and you may think this is it ..but ohh no... the last mile had a super step incline. The views, waterfalls, creekside time are all worth it. Enjoy the climber and check out the views by the waterfalls. My son loved it...

Great park with a large, tall playground with a nearby pavilion of picnic tables and public restrooms. There are three tennis courts as well as a fully grass ball diamond. I'm not sure if there are any bases or if the bases are permanent. There is a
We have had a couple of work picnics here this summer. The restrooms are clean as well as the picnic area. The barbecues have to be cleaned to use them but they havenât been to bad.
