An average quick service vegan restaurant. Very casual vibe. I’ve only tried their “Chick’n” sandwich with their house hot sauce several times! Definitely tasty, reasonably priced and quick! I actually think I had it once a week for about a month!
Quick and reasonably priced healthy food option near George Washington University. At this vegetarian fast food restaurant, you can make your own bowls or choose from pre-designed bowls listed in their menu. They also have sandwich/burger options. Everything is labeled to help vegans or those with gluten or nut allergies order safely. I recommend the chef's bowl!
One of my favorite quick spots in Foggy Bottom! The chef’s bowl with tofu is so incredibly delicious and filling; I really recommend the mushroom mapo as well. The kale/apple/cucumber juice is very refreshing and fresh. The prices are also very reasonable, and the vibe is very casual/upbeat.
Amazing veggie bowl, super friendly staff and great outdoor eating area. Had the Spice is right, a bit spicy in the coleslaw, the platanos were delish.
Creative, tasty, healthy, filling, vegetarian food by a world-renowned chef at a very reasonable price. Yummy drinks too. I treasure this place. Though, Chef Andres, your brioche for your burgers is not fresh anymore like it was when you opened. If you could find a way to get back to that level quality on that one item, it would be a game changer.
Delicious and affordable! My friend and I had the lentil curry and it was delicious! She added mozzarella and I added seaweed so it was a bit of a fusion (confusion) meal, but it’s great to be able to add and remove things freely. I am definitely going back!
Who says vegetables can't be the hero of a meal? This place makes them all delicious and you won't even miss the meat.
All the flavors and quality of a Jose Andres restaurant, but in fast casual form -- what's not to love? Beefsteak has quickly become one of my go-to spots for a weekday lunch or speedy dinner with its great selection of veggie and grain bowls, delicious flavor combinations that span across multiple cuisines, and lively atmosphere. I love a good salad or grain bowl as much as the next person, but, especially in the winter, I find myself craving something salad-esque but warm. That's where Beefsteak's steamed veggie bowls come to the rescue! I love a great BYO bowl -- their kale and bok choy make a great base, and I can never say no to their perfectly poached egg. If building your own is too much effort (as it so often is for me), their chef's selections are phenomenal as well. My favorite is definitely the Eden. It's the perfect combo of all things green -- snap peas, green beans, edamame, cucumber, and pea shoots -- on top of a bed of earthy quinoa. The cilantro sauce gives it a great herby kick, while the garlic yogurt provides a lovely creaminess and savoriness that perfectly pairs with the fresh lemon honey dressing. Another top contender is the Frida Kale -- the kale and white rice make a hearty base, and the combo of the black bean and spicy tomato sauces pack quite the punch, but pair wonderfully with the pop of sweetness from the tomatoes and dried cranberries. Beyond the delicious food, what really makes Beefsteak shine is its speedy and friendly service. They truly live up to the "fast" of fast casual, but they never skimp on quality, attention to detail, or attention to the customer. This is true of both dine-in and take-out -- every now and then they run out of something that I ordered on UberEats, but they're very intentional about reaching out to see whether there's anything they can replace what I had ordered with (while most other places just ignore it). All in all, I could not recommend Beefsteak more -- it's solidified itself as one of my go-to spots in DC, and I can't wait until I can swing by to grab another bottle of their apple beet ginger juice and steamed veggie bowl.
